What happened in the last 40 minutes of 'Viking Wolf'?
The movie enters its second half and suddenly starts to fast-forward the script a little to shock us in the end. The last 40 minutes is all about Thale, the lead in the movie, wrapping her head around the idea of turning into a werewolf. The signs of a werewolf strike Thale, when on a full-moon night she goes out to meet her friend Jonas and completely transforms into a werewolf, killing her friend in the process. The story that focuses on Thale's mother, who is also the police officer working the case of "Wolf Killings" with an animal expert William. The story then goes back-and-forth from the mother and the daughter, who leaves town to stop herself from killing, but ends up getting on a bus full of people and killing them all.
Werewolf Thale then runs off to her house where she comes face to face with her little sister, upon seeing her, the wolf seems to become empathetic. The blood chase then leads Thale to the town, where she kills a bunch of her classmates, who are hanging out at a bar. Thale's mother, along with her animal expert guide, William, thinks of making the werewolf unconscious with a tranquilizer, which they manage to do.
How does 'Viking Wolf' end?
After making the wolf unconscious, the scene cuts to the creature laying unconscious with wires attached to it on a hospital bed. Thale's mother is seen taking out an unused bullet from her pocket and looking at it. The scene than cuts to Thale's bedroom with a picture of her on the side table. The movie ends with Thale's mother putting the unused bullet next to her picture.
You might think that Thale is killed and that's the end of the story, but there's more to story than what meets the eye. The whole process of a bullet leaving a gun is that there are two parts, one which hits the target and the other that hits the ground. If Thale's mother shot her, wouldn't she be putting a used bullet on the desk instead of an unused one? The ending can also be about the audience' perception and might have different meanings to it. Like for some, Thale died, but for some, the mother released the beast in the woods far from human contact.
'Viking Wolf' is exclusively available to watch on Netflix.
