'It's like a tornado': Videos show HORRIFYING 4-alarm fire engulfing buildings and boats in Connecticut

'It was so intense, fueled by those strong southerly winds, that it’s rotating,' said one of the videos on social media

MYSTIC, CONNECTICUT: Several fire departments in Connecticut were battling to extinguish a massive four-alarm fire at the Seaport Marine in Mystic after a terrifying blaze broke out around 8.45 pm on Sunday, November 27. It has already consumed major portions of Washington Street in the New England town. Over 10 teams from nearby cities are reportedly responding to the blaze at present.

According to EWeather, the four-alarm fire was intensified by weather conditions in the area. "A four-alarm fire is a catastrophic fire event that happens only a couple of times a year for most city fire departments. If a dispatch call goes out for a four-alarm fire, you can expect up to 21 emergency vehicles, including 6 battalion chiefs," according to Desert Fire,

Multiple videos viral on social media show the horrifying blaze. EWeather shared a video with the caption, "This video is insane of the Mystic fire. It was so intense, fueled by those strong southerly winds, that it’s rotating…like a dust devil or tornado. Incredible." "Crazy there’s a fire at Seaport Marine in Mystic, CT.. happening now. At with my in-laws and heard an explosive sound across Mystic River! We’re alright and the fire dept is on it!" a woman wrote, sharing a terrifying video. 

"Scary scene on Washington and Cottrell street in downtown Mystic," one user wrote, sharing a picture of the fire. "The Mystic Seaport is in flames right now," another video was captioned. "Sad news from the home state here. Huge structure fire at @SeaportMarine at the historic @mysticseaport, sending prayers for everyone, especially the @MF_MysticFire Dept. Hopefully they were able to get a fireboat in there, really tough attack with that west wind cranking!" one user wrote, retweeting a video.
