Madison Brooks: LSU student died by multiple 'traumatic injuries' after being hit by a car
BATON ROGUE, LOUISIANA: The coroner has concluded that Madison Brooks, who was reportedly sexually assaulted, died from "multiple traumatic injuries" after she was struck by a car on January 15. The 19-year-old sophomore LSU student was "heavily drunk" and was given CPR by two good Samaritans while first responders guided them via phone.
Brooks was allegedly raped by Kaivon Washingon, 18, and an unnamed 17-year-old guy, and both of them were arrested and charged with third-degree murder. Besides these two, Everett Lee, 28, and Casen Carver, 18, have been accused of being complicit in the rape of the 19-year-old.

The coroner confirmed that Brooks' cause of death is 'multiple traumatic injuries, 2nd motor vehicle collision vs pedestrian' – which indicates that she was left incapacitated at the scene but died at the hospital, the Daily Mail reported. On the highway where Brooks died, a memorial has been created. The university also shared a statement where they called her an "Amazing young woman" who had "limitless potential."
Her friends and family remember her as a bright and joyful young woman who had a lasting effect on everyone she met. Her sorority sisters at Alpha Phi said that Madi — as she was known to those who loved her — had made the ultimate gesture that conveyed her generous personality by donating her heart and kidneys to save others, the Independent reported.
On January 14, Brooks and the four suspects met at Reggie's pub in Baton Rouge, reported videos from the bar showed Brooks tripping over himself numerous times, staggering, and straining to stand in front of at least one of the suspects before they left together.
At a hearing on Tuesday, prosecutor Stuart Theirort announced that the state will be requesting increased charges of first-degree rape and that a grand jury would be called to hear the case. In case they are successful, the accused if convicted will get a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Carver is being held on a $50,000 bond, Lee on a $75,000 bond, and Washington on a $150,000 bond. Apparently, the three adult suspects who appeared in court via a video link were ordered to remain under house arrest and wear ankle monitors.
Also, Reggie's bar, an infamous Baton Rouge venue known for underage drinking and violence, has had its liquor license suspended again following the death of Brooks. An attorney for the bar, Kris Perrett, confirmed in a statement that they are "fully cooperating with authorities".
