'Biological male jeopardizes fairness': Vermont Christian high school calls off girls basketball playoff game against team with trans player
HARTFORD, VERMONT: A Christian prep school in Vermont chose to forfeit a playoff girls' basketball game in the state championship tournament after it was discovered that the opposing team's transgender player was on the lineup. Mid Vermont Christian School is a prep school with a reputation for upholding an adamant gender viewpoint, particularly when it comes to sports.
The girls team from Mid Vermont Christian School (MVCS), known as the Eagles, was slated to play the Long Trail Mountain Lions in the fourth game of the playoffs last week until the Christian school withdrew and forfeited its spot in the tournament. Vicky Fogg, the institution's director, claimed that having the high school girls compete against a player on the opposing team who is biologically a man would be unfair and unsafe. "We withdrew from the tournament because we believe playing against an opponent with a biological male jeopardizes the fairness of the game and the safety of our players," Fogg said in a statement to Fox News.

Fogg added, "Allowing biological males to participate in women's sports sets a bad precedent for the future of women's sports in general." Due to the Eagles' forfeit, the Long Trail Mountain Lions proceeded to the quarterfinals, where they were defeated by No. 4 seed Arlington.
In Vermont, it is against the law to discriminate against student-athletes based on their gender identity, according to DailyMail. Additionally, any disagreements regarding a student's eligibility to participate in sports when their biological gender doesn't match their gender identity must be evaluated on an individual basis. Providing transgender and gender nonconforming students with "the same opportunities to participate in physical education as are all other students," according to the state's Education Agency, is best practice.
'Wokeism is the plague of the 21st century'
Many people have expressed their opinions on Twitter on MVCS's choice to refrain from playing against a transgender student. Some were in favor of the decision, while others had different thoughts. One person, who was in support, wrote, "Good for them! Gender IDENTITY, does not change BIOLOGICAL gender." On the other hand, another person questioning equality wrote, "Thought women and men were equal?"
Good for them! Gender IDENTITY, does not change BIOLOGICAL gender.

"Because the other team had a MALE on their roster. For all these years I watched countless women fight for equality to only have it taken away by a weak minded, mentally ill male. Worst part is we're supposed to be proud for them? If true, nothing you say makes any sense," one more individual wrote.
"Sad to see children's school sports has to be the stage for a political message. Just wrong people forcing woke ideologies on innocent children and ruining sport for them," another person said.
