Van Helsing Season 4 Episode 9 preview: 'No I in Team' takes Jack back to the Rising

The promo shows where Jack was when the vampires first rose, and how she lived through it
PUBLISHED NOV 22, 2019

We’ve seen how various characters have dealt with the Rising when it happens. A promo for the next episode of ‘Van Helsing’ promises to show how Jack (Nicole Munoz) and her friends lived through the day the vampires rose to power.

The last episode saw a flashback to Violet (Keeya King) on the day of the Rising, talking with Jack over the phone. Jack seemed to be in a very bad place — part of the reason she was separated from her family post-Rising. The promo shows the same phone call from Jack’s point of view, and doubtless, the season’s ninth episode, entitled ‘No “I” in Team’ will show audiences how she got in that position, and hopefully, how she gets out of it.

We’ve thus far seen a Jack who’s learned to survive in a post-apocalyptic world, but we don’t know much about what she was like before the Rising. Was she always as strong as the show’s portrayed her to be, or was the Rising a harsh lesson in how to make difficult decisions in order to survive?

Watch the promo below:

The official synopsis for the episode reads: “In a flashback to the Rising, Jack and her archers battle vampires that are taking over the city.” Jack was a Varsity archer, and the girls seen in the promo are likely Jack’s teammates. None of her friends have been seen in the series so far, though, so there is little word on whether or not her team survives. The promo also shows Jack’s coach (Miranda Edwards) being bit and quickly turned. She attacks Jack’s team, and the clip cuts away before we see how successful the coach’s attack is.

A flashback is also an opportunity to reveal secrets the show’s been hiding. The season’s most significant flashbacks revealed Hansen’s (Neil McDonough) vampiric nature, and another showed that as a human, Hansen was an ally of the Van Helsings - and may, ultimately, be so still. What secrets of Jack’s past will the episode uncover?

The next episode of ‘Van Helsing’ airs November 22 on Syfy.
