Jon Hamm reflects on demanding ‘Your Friends & Neighbors’ role at PaleyFest: ‘Every day that…’
Jon Hamm was candid when speaking about the latest season of 'Your Friends & Neighbors'. The 'Top Gun: Maverick' star was present at the PaleyFest LA 2026 at the Dolby Theatre on Saturday with cast members Amanda Peet and Olivia Munn, along with creator, showrunner, and executive producer Jonathan Tropper. Speaking about his role in Season 2 of the dark comedy crime drama, Hamm expressed his gratitude before diving into the challenge of playing Andrew 'Coop' Cooper, a wealthy, disaffected financier who resorts to stealing from his neighbors after being fired.
During a panel, Hamm opened up about the experience, "We get to do this show in New York City. Every day that I get to go in is a day that I greet with significant gratitude." He added that the role was physically demanding and believed it pushed him to do "this great thing with great people," while continuing to energize him. The experience he emphasized, "never gets old." Jessica Radloff moderated the show's panel and saw fans treated to an advance screening followed by a discussion exploring the series’ layered characters, complex relationships, and the creative vision behind 'Your Friends & Neighbors.'
The show follows Coop, a New York hedge fund manager who is recently divorced and becomes unemployed. He uses criminal methods to maintain his lifestyle and keep his family living to the standard to which they have become accustomed. The first season was a critical success, with Hamm receiving praise. Rotten Tomatoes' critics consensus reads, "An acidly witty riff on Breaking Bad, Your Friends & Neighbors' class commentary occasionally stumbles but has an endlessly watchable avatar in star Jon Hamm." Apple TV has already renewed the show for Season 3.
In related news, the show made headlines after Hamm's co-star Peet revealed her breast cancer diagnosis last fall. According to her essay in The New Yorker, "For many years, I’ve been told that I have 'dense' and 'busy' breasts — not as a compliment but as a warning that they require extra monitoring," she said. "I had been seeing a breast surgeon every six months for checkups,” she continued. “The Friday before Labor Day, I went for what I thought would be a routine scan." Peet received her first clear scan after treatment in mid-January 2026. On the series front, the first two episodes are available to stream on Apple TV. New episodes of 'Your Friends & Neighbors' drop Fridays on the streamer.
