VANCOUVER, CANADA: 'Under the Bridge' is getting more intense with each new episode, captivating viewers with its complex array of mysteries and revelations.

Hulu premiered 'Under the Bridge' Episode 5, 'When the Heat Comes Down', on Wednesday, May 8, exploring the unsettling events that have been troubling Rebecca Godfrey (Riley Keough).

'Under the Bridge' primarily follows the mysterious circumstances surrounding the death of Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta), but it also includes subplots, like Rebecca grappling with traumatic memories of her brother Gabe's (Teagan Stark) death.

When Rebecca comes back to her small hometown with the intention of writing a book about teenage girls growing up in a small town in British Columbia, Canada, she is unexpectedly confronted with a horrifying incident from her own past involving her older sibling. 

This event forces her to revisit painful memories from her past, leading to a deeper exploration of her own history and the town's secrets.

Rebecca discusses her brother Gabe's death in the first three episodes of 'Under the Bridge', engaging in a heartfelt conversations with her father, Charles Godfrey (Paul Jarrett), and her childhood friend, now a local police officer, Cam Bentland (Lily Gladstone).

In Episode 5 of 'Under the Bridge,' Warren Glowatski (Javon Walton) makes a shocking confession to Rebecca, revealing that he was present when Reena was killed.

Rebecca confides in Warren about her feelings of guilt regarding her own brother's death, expressing her belief that she could have done something to prevent it. This conversation prompts Warren to disclose a dark secret related to Reena's death. He says that Kelly Ellard (Izzy G) killed Reena. 

In Episode 5 of 'Under the Bridge,' Gabe also makes a symbolic appearance in a fantasy sequence, highlighting the deep impact of his death on Rebecca's psyche.

What happened to Rebecca Godfrey's brother?

In 'Under the Bridge' Episode 5, Rebecca reveals to Warren that her brother drowned in the ocean when she was just 13 years old. This personal revelation sheds light on the deep emotional wounds Rebecca carries from her past.

Drowning was also revealed to be one of the contributing factors in Reena's death. This parallel between Gabe's drowning and Reena's fate adds a striking layer to the narrative. 

Rebecca explains that she couldn't save her brother from drowning, which has left her with a deep sense of regret and sadness.

According to The New York Times, Jonathan Godfrey, Rebecca's brother, died at the age of 16 in 1981 due to drowning after falling from a local bluff.

Rebecca was 13 years old when her brother died, which is the same age her character stated she was in the series when Gabe drowned. In 'Under the Bridge', Jonathan was renamed as Gabe.
