Steve Kunzweiler: Oklahoma district attorney stabbed ‘multiple times’ by daughter during altercation

TULSA, OKLAHOMA: Tulsa District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler 60, was stabbed in his Forest Hills Estates home by his 30-year-old daughter Jennifer who has been arrested. The terrifying incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon, September 27 around 3.pm when his middle child stabbed him multiple times due to her deteriorating mental condition, authorities said.
Tulsa DA Steve Kunzweiler, 60, is father to three daughters, Sandra, 32, Jennifer, 30, and Jackie. Tulsa Police Department Chief Wendell Franklin said officers have arrested the DA's daughter, Jennifer Kunzweiler, in connection with the stabbing incident. Steve Kunzweiler was rushed to a local hospital and he was awake and talking during the time. He is expected to survive the attack. Authorities added, "Detectives are working to gather evidence."

Tulsa Police Department Chief Wendell Franklin also tweeted more information about the incident. Franklin tweeted, that police are "currently working a stabbing scene in which Tulsa County DA Steve Kunzweiler is the victim. He is currently receiving medical attention at a local hospital for his wounds." Chief Franklin also wrote that Tulsa police will work on DA Steve Kunzweiler's case just like any other case. "@TulsaPolicehas criminal jurisdiction and will work this case like all other cases," wrote Chief Franklin.

Kunzweiler said he had been in an altercation with his daughter Jennifer when she stabbed him multiple times. Kunzweiler himself called the police and was rushed to the hospital, reports KTUL. It is believed the situation escalated due to Jennifer's mental condition. She also suffered injuries from the incident and was taken to the hospital and arrested. Later Tuesday, Kunzweiler was treated for his injuries and was able to go home. Following the situation, Kunzweiler released a statement thanking everyone for their support.
"Unfortunately today, I found myself in a situation that I hoped would never happen. Fortunately, my injuries are such that I was able to go home. Thank you to everyone who expressed concern for me and my family. I am most appreciative of the response from the Tulsa Fire Department, EMSA, the Tulsa Police Department, and the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office. I am also very grateful for the professionalism and care of the staff and doctors at Saint Francis Hospital in treating me for my injuries."
