NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a video posted on his Twitter account, Tucker Carlson spoke out for the first time regarding his sudden departure from Fox News. The conservative commentator's video was filled with defiance and conspiracy theories.

Carlson's exit from the Rupert Murdoch-owned news network came just days after Fox News agreed to pay $787.5 million to Dominion Voting Systems to resolve a defamation lawsuit related to false election claims that had been amplified by personalities on the channel. In his video, the divisive ex-TV host began by remarking on "things you notice when you take a little time off," like how "unbelievably stupid most of the debates you see on television are," calling them "completely irrelevant" and insisting that they "mean nothing."

'True things prevail'

"In five years we won’t even remember that we had them," he said, adding, "Trust me as someone who has participated." He said that the "undeniably big topics that define our future" such as "war, civil liberties, emerging science, demographic change, corporate power, natural resources" were not given "legitimate debate" in the US. "Debates like that are not permitted in American media. Both political parties and their donors have reached a consensus on what benefits them and they actively collude to shut down any conversation about it," he said. "Suddenly, the United States looks very much like a one party state. That's a depressing realization, but it's not permanent."

He continued, "The people in charge know this and that is why they are hysterical and aggressive, they are afraid. They have given up persuasion and they are resorting to force. But it won’t work. When honest people say what’s true calmly and without embarrassment they become powerful. At the same time, the liars who have been trying to silence them shrink and they become weaker, that is the iron law of the universe. True things prevail." "Where can you still find Americans saying true things? There aren't many places left, but there are some," Carlson said near the end, before signing off with "see you soon."

Within just three hours of posting the video, which runs for a little over two minutes, it was viewed by 6 million people, and it is likely to fuel further speculation about the future plans of Carlson, who is an important figure in conservative politics and media.

'We stand with Tucker Carlson'

Fans were quick to jump in to support Carlson, with one saying, "AMERICA LOVES YOU WE STAND WITH TUCKER CARLSON!!!" while another shared the sentiment, adding, "I STAND WITH MY BROTHER TUCKER CARLSON!" A third said, "We stand with you Tucker! Thank you for being one of the only honest voices willing to hold those in power accountable. You are excellence in journalism personified," while a fourth went on to call Fox News "garbage."

Public Speaker and author Melissa Tate tweeted, "Boom Tucker going to the heart of it.. it’s a UniParty. People have woken up to this so the jig is up. The censorship & heavy handedness is a sign of their weakness not strength. The more they slam their iron fist of tyranny… more people wake up & realize the truth," followed by a second tweet that said, "These elites had more power when most Americans lived under the illusion of a “two party” system. Since Trump we now know both parties, the media & the entire govt. bureaucracy are controlled by same globalist corporatist interests. The facade that they exist to serve we the people has completely shattered & now they are trying to put the toothpaste back in tube. But can’t unsee what has been exposed in the last 6 years."

Writer Scott Morefield said, "They thought they were silencing the most important voice in America, but they will only end up making it even stronger. Thanks for all you have done and are about to do," while political influencer Ryan Cunningham tweeted, "This is going to be good. The corporate handcuffs are off Tucker."

One user theorized, "I’m convinced that we have had a Uniparty of Elites since 1963 after John F. Kennedy was assassinated. It’s hard for me to believe that both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party were not in collusion back then, but Americans were so traumatized and reminded to focus on pursuing the American Dream, so much so, that they never stopped to notice it. Now…finally, here we are 60 years later staring the hard cold Truth straight in the eyes. God Bless America."
