The bouba and kiki effect tells who you are attracted to, according to a woman on TikTok. One woman on TikTok claimed the bouba and kiki are the two shapes that all people find attractive.

A kiki is a sharp-edged shape that resembles a starburst, as the name might imply. On the other hand, the bouba is soft and resembles a paint glob. It's crucial to remember that scientists discovered in the 1920s that individuals from all cultures would almost universally refer to a rounder shape as a 'bouba', whereas the name 'kiki' just fit with a spiky shape.

What is bouba and kiki effect on TikTok?

When people hear the term "bouba," they picture a spherical shape. When they hear the word "kiki," they picture a spiky shape. On TikTok, creators are using this concept to describe celebrities. Some are going farther and using the terms to justify why they are exclusively attracted to particular people.

TikTok creator Eileen Huang and TikTok creator Talia Lichtstein argued that people with sharper features are more likely to be kikis, while people with softer features are more likely to be boubas. This theory gained traction in March 2023, when Talia Lichtstein posted about kikis and boubas, Elite DAILY reported.

Attraction theory behind bouba and kiki

The attraction theory of kiki and bouba was expanded by a TikToker, who noted that some fragrances also fit into these two categories based on scientific research. According to a study, some aromas, like vanilla and raspberry, conjure up softer images, while other smells, like lemon and pepper, conjure up more aggressive images, DISTRACTIFY reported.

After watching the video on the bouba and kiki attraction, many social media users were surprisingly on board, with dozens of tweets expressing how the hypothesis made so much sense to them. However, some people found the subject entirely and utterly perplexing, or worse.

A Twitter user shared a video saying, "This TikTok completely changed the way I think of guys I think are hot. It’s like I have a whole new vocabulary More people need to see this."

Some users said they had to know if they were bouba or kiki as they viewed the information.

In the end, it seems that many people will be struck by this theory while others simply don't get it. Fascinatingly, boubas make up the majority of the commenters who understand it.
