Truth Social: Trump app gets 170K downloads on 1st day, users on waitlist amid demand
Donald Trump's new social media venture has just come to light as he signed up for the new app called Truth Social. The app was launched late on App Store last Sunday and has been trending since then, bagging 170,000 downloads on the first day of its launch. The app earned users really quick and on Monday morning, only a day after its launch, Truth Social became the top free app available on Apple's App Store.
Not too long after its launch, Truth Social started displaying a message of error to users who were trying to sign up on the app. "Due to massive demand, we have placed you on our waitlist," the pop-up error read. Truth Social is a venture by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) which was previously run by former Republican US Representative Devin Nunes.

Donald Trump has been banned from several social media platforms including Twitter and Facebook on grounds that the former President of the United States was making comments that could encourage unrest. Following the Janurary 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol by his supporters, after he was accused of posting messages inciting violence.
"This week we will begin to roll out on the Apple App Store. That's going to be awesome, because we're going to get so many more people that are going to be on the platform," Nunes told a reporter from Fox News shortly before the launch of the app. Statistically, it has been reported that Truth Social has been doing fairly well after its release, especially if it is compared to the other immediate competitors of Twitter and Facebook that include social media apps called Gettr and Parler.
Trump has been able to make a comeback in his virtual social life after the launch of Truth Social. Nunes also told reporters from Fox News that the Truth Social network is expected to be fully operational in at least the United States by the end of this year. He has also been urging people to join the platform, share pictures, participate in conversations and other activities to help the app grow.
