ENNIS, ALASKA: 'True Detective: Night Country' heads to its finale this weekend. The six-episodic series has managed to intrigue fans with mind-boggling suspense gift-wrapped in a supernatural theme.

Much remains to be uncovered in the finale, with Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) buckling up to explore the dangerous ice caves that hold secrets of Ennis. Viewers also anticipate closure on the aspects of Danvers' personal life.

Delving into Liz Danvers' past

The creators have occasionally delved into Danvers' traumatic past without disclosing what happened. Danvers navigates life with her rebellious, stubborn stepdaughter, Leah Danvers (Isabella Star LaBlanc) and the two don't get along very well.

In the first episode, we see Danvers having a dream of her son, Holden, who is dead now.

Danvers remains tight-lipped about her past. Without any flashbacks from the creators of the show, viewers are left to speculate and formulate theories about the mysterious events that unfolded in her life.

Liz Danvers, now a lonely woman without even a company even on Christmas Eve, once had a family of her own. She was in a relationship with Jake Peterson (Svend Hardenberg) and the two had a biological son named Holden (Inuik Lee Nielsen Shapiro).

Danvers may have had a complicated relationship with Jake, which could be the reason why she never mentions him or even thinks of him at the very least.

Did Leah Danvers's husband and son die in a car accident?

In one of the sequences, Ted Connelly (Christopher Eccleston) tells Danvers how good of a cop she was before "the thing" happened. From this, one can infer that a tragic incident claimed the lives of Jake and Holden.

Navarro's vision highlighted a vehicular accident involving a large truck. The impact was evident as both Liz Danvers and Leah were visibly affected in Episode 1, particularly when they encountered a drunk woman.

It’s possible that Jake and Holden lost their lives in a road accident, potentially involving a drunk person at fault, unless there's a supernatural twist to it as well.

Since then, Danvers has been raising Jake's daughter, Leah, while struggling to overcome her traumatic past.

While Navarro's family history has gained enough spotlight throughout the season, Issa Lopez, the showrunner of 'True Detective: Night Country' has kept us in the dark when it comes to Danvers' past.

The question arises whether her family's tragedy is linked to other mysterious events in Ennis. If so, this would explain why Danvers reacts with anger toward Navarro's spiritual theories.

We hope for a proper closure to all the mysteries and unanswered questions in the upcoming episode.

'True Detective: Night Country' Episode 6 will premiere on HBO and Max on Sunday, February 18 at 9 pm ET.
