OCEAN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY: The Central Regional School District Board of Education voted on Tuesday, March 14, to terminate Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides's contract, though he had two more years under his tenure. Parlapanide resigned in February as he made some public remarks about the personal life of Adriana Kuch, a 14-year-old girl who died by suicide due to bullying.
Now, the former Superintendent will be paid $127K and retire on May 1 as part of a separation agreement with the school board. However, as per the terms of the agreement, the former superintendent will be paid the remaining $195,353 which is a part of his salary until his retirement date, after which the board will issue a $97,676.50 lump sum payment.

What led to resignation of Triantafillos Parlapanides?
Parlapanides resigned from the position as he made some extremely personal remarks about the life of Kuch. He claimed to Daily Mail, “Her father was having an affair at the end of her 6th grade. Her father married the woman he had an affair with and moved her into the house." He then added, “Her grades and choices declined in 7th and 8th grade. We offered her drug rehab and mental services on five occasions but the father refused every time." “Her grades and choices declined in 7th and 8th grade. We offered her drug rehab and mental services on five occasions but the father refused every time,” said the official. Michael Kuch, Adriana's father, denied the remark by Parlapanides and then stated Adriana's mother battled addiction and died in 2015. Michael back then claimed, "I don't know how to respond to this insane deflection. This guy is a piece of s**t," as per Daily Mail. Michael also added, "I can't begin to tell you how angry I am at the school, at the police department...If those videos hadn't been posted, these girls would have ended up with a one-day suspension or in no trouble at all. The [school] has done nothing. They should not be in charge of our children's safety.
What are other payments Triantafillos Parlapanide will receive?
Parlapanide will also receive a maximum total of more than $30,000 for the accumulated and unused vacation and sick time leaves. If he was to retire in 2025 as per his original contract, he would have received more than $200,000 per year, as per App. Earlier, it was revealed by Board attorney Christopher Dasti that Parlapanides was “still being paid.”
