Trevor Noah, the host of 'The Daily Show,' was slammed on social media after it was revealed that Joe Rogan had defended Noah from the 'cancel culture' mob in the past.

The 'Daily Show' host was dubbed "ungrateful" for not returning the favour and for declaring The Joe Rogan Experience podcast namesake "guilty of racism". Rogan recently received backlash for the repeated use of the N-word in past podcast episodes and for hosting guests accused of spreading Covid misinformation by questioning the effectiveness of Covid-19 vaccines. Noah presented a 16-minute segment mocking Rogan about his use of the racial label at various points in his comedic career.

Noah said, “Just because something is a joke doesn’t mean it can’t be something else as well. Because a joke can be racist, right, in fact, a joke can be racist and funny if you’re telling it to the right crowd.” He added, “Someone can find it funny, but the laughs don’t mean that there’s no racism.”

The Daily show tweeted, “When Joe Rogan says, ‘I wasn't being racist. I was just being entertaining.’ - No, Joe, I think you were using racism to try to be entertaining.” -Trevor unpacks Joe's N-word and Planet of the Apes apologies."

While Noah's fans supported him for taking on Rogan’s remarks, another old tweet from 2015 showed that Rogan supported Noah when he faced a similar controversy. The South African comedian, who is the son of a Swiss-German father and half-Jewish South African mother, was criticised in 2015 for having made tasteless jokes about Jews and women just before he replaced Jon Stewart as the host of 'The Daily Show'. Noah had made light of the Holocaust in a 2009 tweet, saying, "Almost bumped a Jewish kid crossing the road. He didn't look b4 crossing but I still would hav felt so bad in my German car." In 2012, he tweeted about the soccer player Lionel Messi, saying, "Messi gets the ball and the real players try foul him, but Messi doesn't go down easy, just like jewish chicks." He had also made light of domestic violence against women in two other tweets.

Rogan had responded to a fan who asked him to comment on Noah’s controversy, tweeting, “NOTHING he said was out of line, and he’s a funny dude. F*** the haters, Noah!”

Fans are furious about Noah’s ungrateful attitude towards the podcaster. Noam Blum, co-host of the 'Ambitious Crossover Attempt' podcast, retweeted Rogan's old tweet with the words, "Holy shit, Rogan stood up for him."

Another user tweeted “@Trevornoah, funny how @joerogan extended grace from one comedian to the other and a shame you couldn't do the same. That's the difference between a free-thinker and a propagandist. This is why people are watching @JRE_Clips instead of @TheDailyShow. We see you.”

Commenting on the Daily Show post, one user remarked, “I like Rogan better so yep , daily show lost a fan, unsubscribed, I miss the days of John Stewart.”

'Ambitious Crossover Attempt' podcast host Noam Blum, who has been tweeting constantly about Trevor Noah's takedown of Joe Rogan, had also tweeted a long rant about Noah's hypocrisy. “Just ICYMI - Trevor Noah got into an identical offensive joke controversy as Joe Rogan when he was hired for the Daily Show in 2015. His reasoning was the same as Rogan's (except Noah didn't apologize). Also later in this thread you can see Rogan vocally supported him on Twitter.” He also posted snapshots of all of Trevor's old offensive 'joke tweets', with the comment, "you piece of f**king shit @Trevornoah".
