'Too much plastic surgery': Mentor Noah Cyrus compared to Madonna by 'American Idol' viewers

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: More than two decades after it debuted on network television, 'American Idol' still has the country in its grip. The 21st season of ABC's massively famous reality singing competition series premiered in February, presenting fans to the current group of vocalists battling for the $250,000 grand prize. Their abilities are put to the ultimate test in the series. Fortunately, they have a few celebrity guest mentors to assist them along the way.

Noah Cyrus is a gifted singer, songwriter, and actress who has just taken the music business by storm. She has now taken on a new job as a celebrity coach on 'American Idol,' and viewers have quite a varying take on her appearance as well as mentorship.

Noah and Katy share love for one another

Noah coached the remaining 13 competitors on night two, April 17. The public voting period was extended so that fans may vote for their favorites and select the Top 20, which will be revealed on next Sunday's, April 23, Top 20 show.

Noah has spent much of her childhood in the spotlight as a result of her famous father, Billy Ray Cyrus, and sister, Miley Cyrus. Simon Cowell's Syco record label represents her. Halfway through the episode, Noah enters the stage to perform her current hit. She sounds similar to Miley, but much more alto than her sister. In terms of style, the two are more similar than in the past. Noah has performed as an opener for Katy Perry. They exchange "I love yous."

'She looked so awkward'

Seeing Noah perform, fans took to Twitter to write, "Noah Cyrus tells everybody about working the stage and she stands there in one spot cranking one arm like she is starting a lawn mower." Another person chimed in, "She looked so awkward." Comparing her to another legend, one fan tweeted, "I’m watching American Idol and Noah Cyrus is wearing a baby bonnet! What??? It looks ridiculous." One viewer quipped, "Looks like barnacles growing on Noah’s nails."

One fan also joked, "I’m having a hard time taking Noah Cyrus seriously when she’s wearing a baby bonnet." Another one added, "I thought Noah Cyrus was Björk." One harsh comment from a fan also read, "Noah Cyrus looks like 64 year old Madonna. Wtf." Another added, "What is Noah wearing and what did she do to her face? She’s young! She shouldn't be anywhere near filler! Leave that to Madonna!" One questioned, "Does Noah Cyrus know Madonna's face guy?" Another added, "I tweeted that she looks like an overgrown infant too much plastic surgery like Madonna....lmao." 

Another fan asked, "has Noah Cyrus done some work ? because something looks very off in her face." While calling out the show, a viewer wrote, "You know American idol is failing when Noah Cyrus is considered a “mentor”." Another added, "Noah Cyrus just telling them they sound good even though they don’t. Not really a good mentor."

‘American Idol’ Season 21 airs every Sunday and Monday at 8 pm ET on ABC.
