LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: TikTok is the source of numerous life hacks, some of which are beneficial while others might be harmful to consumers. With all of the baked delights, the bakery section at the grocery store is a treat. Have you ever considered what happens to unsold cakes? One TikToker demonstrated how a frozen sheet cake was re-frosted and set up for another consumer, which was considered gross.

Tiffany can be seen in the video scraping the frosting from a Happy Birthday cake. She is seen removing all the balloons and colorful decorations and substituting them with a message of congratulations for a recent graduate.

How did the TikTok user come up with the idea for the clip?

When a customer asked for a customized white cake, Tiffany, a cake decorator at Walmart, didn't want to let a perfectly good and pre-made cake go to waste, so she decided to decorate it according to the customer's request. The frosting on the cake appeared to be somewhat rigid, possibly due to refrigeration, but Tiffany's efforts to create a perfectly iced and designed cake for a graduation party were captured in a timelapse video.

'Completely gross'

Some people found the process questionable and unhygienic. Despite Tiffany's explanation in a follow-up video that the cake was fresh out of the freezer and wouldn't dry out, some Walmart cake customers remained upset and unsatisfied. Some TikTok users expressed their concern about expired cakes with comments such as, "Y'all we be getting expired cakes," and "Fresh from the freezer is an oxymoron." However, many other bakers and cake decorators disagreed and argued that there was nothing inherently wrong with using frozen cakes as a base for decoration.

According to a TikTok user, it's common practice for professional bakers to keep cakes frozen, and as long as they are stored correctly, the taste and texture remain unaffected. Even wedding cakes are often frozen. Another user added that wrapping cake layers before they cool down and freezing them helps lock in the moisture, resulting in a moist and delicious cake.
