4 easy steps to prepare pineapple upside-down cake at home

Get ready for a culinary experience that will tantalize your taste buds with this delectable cake recipe.

You will need the following ingredients:

For the topping:

1/4 cup unsalted butter

3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed

1 can (20 ounces) of sliced pineapple, drained

Maraschino cherries (optional)

For the cake batter:

1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup milk

Steps to prepare the sweet delicacy:

1. Preheat the oven and place pineapples in the pan

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Pour melted butter into a pie dish to start. Be sure to spread it along the edges as well. Sprinkle brown sugar equally over the butter. Place pineapple rings and cherries on the pie dish along the edges and cover the bottom.

2. Prepare the cake batter

Start by creaming the butter and sugar together, then add the eggs and vanilla essence and whisk it till it becomes a homegenous mixture. Fold in the dry ingredients and whisk in the milk gradually until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.

3. Bake

Pour the batter on top of the pineapples you had readied earlier and bake the cake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Lightly wrap it with aluminum foil to avoid over-browning. Inspect the cake after 30 minutes by inserting a toothpick in the centre. If the toothpick comes out clean, it is done.

Note: Keep in mind that baking time may vary depending on your oven and the size of your cake, so it's always a good idea to check the cake periodically and adjust the baking time as needed.

4. Serve after flipping

Let the cake rest for 10-15 minutes before turning it onto a serving tray. Don't put it off any longer. The cake could get stuck to the pie dish.
