Trapped LaPlace residents send SOS online as help gets delayed
LAPLACE, LOUISIANA: As Hurricane Ida continues to create havoc in Louisiana, the people of LaPlace are feeling helpless and begging for help. Reports said though emergency workers are responding to their calls, because of the horrible situation they cannot go out to rescue them.
St John Parish President Jaclyn Hotard said, “Right now, it's just not safe to be out there in the elements,” but added that help will be sent as soon as the situation gets better.
Meanwhile, social media was flooded with pleas for help. A user tweeted, “Right now we are in a hotel in laplace bc st charles did a mandatory evacuation and well we arent doing good. The hotel has a back up generator but its flooding really bad.” Another one said, “My people and I need help. It’s me and 3 women over the age of 60. Our house is flooding. We stay on 2236 Williamsburg Dr. Laplace Louisiana.”
