LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: While Netflix is gearing up for the release of 'The Witcher' Season 3, which will see Henry Cavill essay Geralt of Rivia for one last time, the use of AI and deepfakes have already caused Season 4 to be subjected to intense backlash. In the next season, Liam Hemsworth is set to replace Henry.

The announcement of Liam playing Geralt of Rivia has been difficult for fans to digest because Henry embodied the character perfectly. However, a new video on the internet has reignited the mockery against Liam, making it amply clear it is difficult for fans to picture him as the show's new lead.

What do the deepfakes show?

Deepfakes have been known to use AI to successfully replace the likeness of one person with another in video or audio. The deepfake video uploaded on YouTube provides a glimpse of what Liam might look like in the role of Geralt of Rivia.

While the accuracy of AI's rendition cannot be entirely determined, it does give an idea of how Liam would fit into the appearance of the character, although it remains to be seen how the audience will warm up to the change. The recasting of Geralt has not been without its fair share of controversy, but fans might still want to give Liam the benefit of the doubt, especially considering series showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has assured that it will bring a 'new energy' to the role, which would come in handy for the beginning of Season 4.

'He looks like a 90s pro wrestler'

Apart from the YouTube video, the images recreated using AI seem to have subjected Liam to considerable mockery. A Reddit user said, "He looks like a young Santa Claus." Another mentioned, "Looks like an early 90s alternative frontman lo." Meanwhile, a third commented, "He looks like the one dwarf from the Hobbit films." Someone else noted, "He looks like a 90s pro wrestler lmao or a country music singer." Another claimed, "He looks like Gale from Baldur's Gate 3 in here lol." A user said, "Lol! That would be funny but the actor is a little doughy to be a Witcher."
