Who is Gean Garcia? Texas singer on 'The Voice' picks Team Kelly after Blake Shelton blocks Nick Jonas

The 20-year-old crooner left judges impressed with his singing skills but that also led to chaos between the coaches

The premiere episode of ‘The Voice’ Season 20 saw contestants like Victor Solomon, Dana Monique, Cam Anthony, Pete Mroz and a few others getting the chair-turn from the coaches in order to clear the blind auditions. Kenzie Wheeler was the only contestant who could manage to impress all the judges after getting the only four-chair turn in the first episode.

The very first contestant on the second episode was Gean Garcia, who turned 20 on February 27, making him the youngest on the show this season. The young lad showed how well he can sing after he performed Kodaline’s ‘All I Want’ during his blind auditions.

‘The Voice’ Season 20 returned with judges Blake Shelton, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson. Nick Jonas made his deserving comeback on the show replacing Gwen Stefani as the judge on the big red chair.

Who is Gean Garcia?

The 20-year-old crooner who hails from McAllen, Texas, left judges impressed with his singing skills but that also led to chaos between the coaches. Blake Shelton instantly realized Garcia’s talent and was the first one to turn followed by Nick but the latter soon realized that Blake had blocked him ultimately foiling his plans to pick Garcia in his team.

After much deliberation, Kelly turned her big red chair expressing a lot of interest in Garcia after his performance ended. John, unfortunately, did not turn at all. After a lot of convincing, the country musician picked Team Kelly despite Blake pushing him for his team. The young singer also has an impressive fan following on social media accounts and he has also dropped a few singles from his catalog.

‘I wish Gean was on Team Nick’

As soon as Gean Garcia’s performance ended, social media users rushed to Twitter to praise the young singer. One user stated, “I wish Gean was on #TeamNick #TheVoice #VoicePremiere” Another added, “Gean Garcia has a voice people can connect to #TheVoice.”  

One user posted, “Gean has the voice and the pedigree — what a way to start off the night! #TheVoice” The next shared, “We get the #Blinds treatment for a cool, indie vocal from Gean Garcia. I actually thought it was a female with a lil gruff. #TheVoice def seems otherworldly in that body #premiere” A user asserted, “First chills of the season for Gean Garcia! #TheVoice. Another concluded, “Gean's got a lot of soul. #TheVoice.”
