'The Voice' Season 19: No chair turn for Becca Kotte, fans say Sir Rod Stewart's backup singer was 'robbed'
From being a broadway star to the backup singer for legendary musician Sir Rod Stewart, 30-year-old Becca Kotte has done it all. But Becca was keen on finding her own voice and exploring her creativity as an individual artist, so she seized the opportunity to audition for 'The Voice' in the hopes of getting a step closer to her dreams. Becca walked onto the stage and began performing 'American Woman'.
Unfortunately for Becca, although the coaches, especially Kelly Clarkson, seemed to love her performance, none of the coaches turned their chair for her. John Legend admitted that he would have turned had Becca managed to hit the same notes she did towards the end of her performance, a little earlier. He revealed that he loved the ending of her performance, but he couldn't turn as he had already written her off.
While Blake Shelton explained that although Becca seemed incredibly talented it wasn't his genre and wouldn't be able to do justice to her by trying to become her coach. Kelly Clarkson too showered Becca with praises but admitted that it wasn't her genre either. Gwen Stefani confessed that she was confused and didn't know what to do. But the coaches unanimously agreed that Becca must be incredibly talented to be Sir Rod Stewart's backup singer, and wished her luck.
Fans were unfortunately left feeling disappointed over Becca not receiving even a single chair turn, despite her beautiful performance. A fan tweeted, "Becca was the most exciting voice I've seen in a long time singing American Woman. Beyond disappointed the coaches didnt turn for her. .@kellyclarkson #VoiceBlinds." Another fan wrote, "OMG! Becca was fantastic! No one??? #TheVoice." "Becca Kotte has a lot of stage experience, and I liked her opening. She is working her range. Surprised she didn’t get an early turn. Kelly is rockin with her, but she doesn’t get a chair. #TheVoice #VoiceBlinds Shame!" pointed a fan. "She was so ROBBED! Such a great voice, energy, presentation. I don't believe no one turned. Wow!," declared a fan.
