'The Voice' Season 18: Team Blake Shelton's Joanna Serenko becomes last contestant to make it to top 9
Tonight on 'The Voice', it was time to announce the name of one contestant from each team that had won America's hearts.
The contestants who managed to strike a chord with the audiences after the first live playoffs that premiered on Monday night were Todd Tilghman (Team Blake Shelton), CammWess (Team John Legend), Micah Iverson (Team Kelly Clarkson) and Thunderstorm Artis (Team Nick Jonas). All four of them advanced to the top 9, courtesy of votes from the American audiences. Toneisha Harris, Zan Fiskum, Megan Danielle and Allegra Miles were saved by their respective coaches to join the top 9.
However, it was still not over for the remaining artists from each team. Joanna Serenko, Mandi Castillo, Michael Williams and Cedrice had one more chance to perform for the last time for the American audiences. At the end of all four performances, the audiences had five minutes to decide who among the four would be the final contestant to make it to the top 9.
Joanna Serenko — Team Blake Shelton
She sang 'Don't Let Me Be Lonely', a song by country singer-songwriter James Taylor, who is also a super coach this season.
Cedrice — Team Kelly Clarkson
She deviated from her sultry side and chose a song that was totally different from her style. She went with 'Breathin' by Ariana Grande. The performance had her coach gushing, "You are such a star, you're so cool. I cannot wait to buy your record someday."
Mandi Castillo — Team John Legend
After crooning to a Spanish song in the live playoffs yesterday (May 4), Castillo chose to sing 'True Colors' by Phil Collins in tonight's episode.
Michael Williams — Team Nick Jonas
He has been a winner of the four-way knockouts before and now he had one more chance to impress America in tonight's episode. He chose to perform 'To love somebody' by Michael Bolton. His performance had his coach displaying a whiteboard with "Wow Star!" written on it.
At the end of all performances, the fate of all the four contestants lied with America. The voting was live and the audiences had just five minutes to save their favorite contestants.
Joanna Serenko managed to defeat all of her competitors and became the final contestant on the top 9.
