'The Voice' returned with the results of the first-ever live playoff episode of the current season. The episode premiered yesterday, May 4, and now it was time to know which of the contestants made it to the Top 9. Here are the results.

Team Blake Shelton

The four artists that performed in the live playoffs were Joanna Serenko, Joei Fulco, Todd Tilghman and Toneisha Harris. The contestant that moved ahead, courtesy of America's  votes, was 41-year-old pastor Todd Tilghman.

It was now time for Blake to use his power to save another contestant of his choice from the remaining three artists.

Before making the selection, he said, "I'm so proud of all three of you guys. I just want to say one thing, the show must always go on and whatever happens tonight, you must always continue making music."

From the remaining artists, Shelton chose to move ahead with Toneisha.

Team John Legend

The four artists who performed in the live playoffs were CammWesss, Mandi Castillo, Mike Jerel and Zan Fiskum. The contestant that managed to impress America the most was CammWess.

The decision lied with Legend to save another contestant from the remaining three.

"Each of you is wonderful. Every single one of you is a great musician and a human being. We all had technical and logistical challenges but when the time came to perform, you all came through with such artistry. It was a pleasure to work with each of you all," said Legend before saving Zan Fiskum.

Team Kelly Clarkson

The four contestants who performed in the live playoffs were Cedrice, Megan Danielle, Micah Iverson and Mandi Thomas. Iverson managed to gain the maximum public votes and advanced to the Top 9.

It was now time for Clarkson to choose one more person from the remaining three and before doing so, she said, "This is such a  bittersweet moment. I have literally been in your shoes. You know that you all are very different. Just know that I have many people that can help you out so this is not the end."

Having said that, Clarkson picked Megan to advance further in the competition.

Team Nick Jonas

Coach Jonas had five contestants who performed in the live playoffs. Allegra Miles, Arei Moon, Michael Williams, Roderick Chambers and Thunderstorm Artis.

The contestant that had America's heart was Thunderstorm Artis and he moved ahead to the Top 9.

"This is the tough part of this job. The joy for me has been to work with all of you and spend time with you and your families and this makes the decision even tougher. I believe in all of you and its so sad that I have to make this really tough choice." He chose Allegra Miles to advance in the competition.

Joanna Serenko, Mandi Castillo, Michael Williams and Cedrice have a chance to perform one last time and an instant save from America will decide the final contestant who will complete the Top 9 list.
