'The Voice' Season 17: Show faces boycott after fans slam John Legend's anti-Trump politics

Though Legend won many hearts with his win and his appearance on the show, there are a few fans who are not in favor of the winning coach returning for season 17.
UPDATED SEP 24, 2019

'The Voice' is all set to return for season 17, and while we can't wait to see what the series has in store for us, a few fans are not looking forward to it, because of one particular coach.

John Legend joined 'The Voice' for the first time during season 16 as a coach, and he accomplished something most coaches before him have been unable to do, and that is to be a winning coach during his very first season.

During season 16 Legend took home the trophy as the winning coach with Maelyn Jarmon, the only female and non-country singer in the finale. Though Legend won many hearts with his win and his appearance on the show, there are a few fans who are not in favor of the winning coach returning for season 17.

While one might assume that these particular set of fans hate Legend for his coaching skills or because of the drama on the show, but no, fans who want Legend off the show, are hating on the winning coach, because of his political stance.

Fans revealed their reason for boycotting this season of 'The Voice' is because the series brought back EGOT winner, Legend once again as the coach. Though the series has no connection to politics, these set of fans can't help but bring it in as a cause.

Taking to Twitter a fan said, "F**k the @NBCTheVoice with anti-trump scumbag Lil John Legend! #TheVoice."

Adding to that another fan said, "@blakeshelton please exit @johnlegend from "your show" #TheVoice. You've always been my fav but your choice to bring him back prevents me from watching this season. Legends political views and foul mouth are out of line. If your an entertainer stay out of politics."

"We are boycotting #TheVoice for John Legends political stance...do something about this or lose audience," wrote a fan. While another fan said, "They’re such a vile couple. I love #thevoice but might not watch it because of John Legend. Knowing the behavior of him & his wife makes me sick esp his wife Piggy!"
