What is ‘Blasted’ all about?

Based on the real-life UFO-induced phenomenon in Hessdalen (Norway), ‘Blasted’ is a Norwegian dark sci-fi comedy film that tells the story of two close childhood friends Sebastian (Axel Boyum) and Mikkel (Fredrik Skogsrud). Both these childhood buddies reunite for Sebastian’s bachelorette party who is getting hitched to the love of his life in the film.

Whilst Mikkel never went beyond being a teenage laser-tag prodigy, Sebastian has now turned himself into a career-obsessed workaholic person. Even at his bachelorette party, Sebastian is using the occasion as a ruse in order to gain another new client. But soon the joyous atmosphere of the party changes into a tense one as their party gets interrupted by an alien invasion which makes everyone scared. Now it is upto the unbeatable laser-tag duo Mikkel and Sebastian to reunite and fight back against it.

The official synopsis reads, “Blasted follows childhood friends Sebastian (Axel Bøyum) and Mikkel (Fredrik Skogsrud), who are reunited for Sebastian’s bachelor party. While Mikkel never matured past teenage laser tag-prodigy, Sebastian has grown into a career-obsessed workaholic who’s using the party to schmooze a potential client. But when the bachelor party stumbles head-first into an alien invasion, it’s up to Mikkel and Sebastian to reunite as the kick-ass lasertag duo they once were and fight back."

The movie has been inspired by the real-life UFO phenomenon of unexplained Hessdalen lights which had been seen in a 12 km long stretch of the Hessdalen valley in rural Norway. These lights have no official source as they keep appearing in both day and night and also seem to float through and above the valley.
