LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: After engaging the audiences with six wholesome episodes of 'The Sympathizer', HBO Max's popular series is gearing up for the finale.

The historical black comedy drama based on Viet Thanh Nguyen's prize-winning novel of the same name narrates the ordeals of a spy. It introduces Hoa Xuande in the key role of Captain, who is a North Vietnam plant in the South Vietnam army.

Towards the end of the war, he is forced to flee with his General to America.

While adjusting to his new life abroad, he continues to spy on his General, frequently reporting critical information to his handler in North, until he surprisingly lands up in North Vietnamese prison.

When will 'The Sympathizer' Episode 7 release?

Fans are eager to know the ultimate fate of Captain as a prisoner. The highly anticipated finale episode titled 'Endings Are Hard, Aren't They?' will release next Sunday, May 26, 2024.

The episode will start streaming on 9 pm ET on Max. A membership of Max is required to have a hassle free streaming experience for 'The Sympathizer'.

What happened in 'The Sympathizer' Episode 6?

'The Sympathizer' has delivered the best of all episodes ahead of its finale. In Episode 6, show runner Park Chan-wook takes the drama up a notch as Captain makes unbelievable choices.

Apart from carrying out his ordinary espionage duties, he ends up confessing his true identity to Sonny before killing him out of envy and hatred.

Moreover, he decides to join General's mission despite his belief that it's a lost war.

What to expect in 'The Sympathizer' Episode 7?

In the finale episode, we may expect the General's newly formed army sneaking into Vietnam and fighting the communists.

Captain will be eventually captured by North Vietnamese soldiers and he'll spend his life proving that he is a communist by heart and a spy for the North after all.
