'The Spanish Princess' Season 2: Meet Charlotte Hope, Ruairi O’Connor and the new cast of the final 8 episodes
The debut season of Starz's period drama, 'The Spanish Princess' ended on a troubling note for both the titular Catherine of Aragon and her beloved Prince Harry, awaiting his ascension as King Henry VIII. With Lady Margaret continuously instigating the court against Catherine's purity, by questioning her virginity before her wedding to Harry, things were left open-ended between the two.
Catherine's father too had accused Harry of having lost his virginity to his own sister Joanna, thus leaving the couple stranded. Will they reunite and reconcile or will the Starz drama go against the pages of history? With tension building up, newer characters also hop into the story. Here's who's returning, and here's who's joining 'The Spanish Princess' in its final eight episodes.
Charlotte Hope
As Catherine of Aragon, Hope has become unmissable. Her flaming red hair and stoic demeanor as Catherine struggle to accomplish her one goal: become the queen is performance viewers live for. As for when you might have seen Hope before, she was one of Ramsay Bolton's handmaid's in 'Game of Thrones'. Elsewhere, Hope has also starred in the more recent 'The English Game'.
Ruairi O’Connor
While his coronation is still impending much like the status of his engagement with Catherine, O'Connor has won quite the soft won amongst fans' hearts as Prince Harry, brother of Catherine's first husband, Arthur. After Arthur's death, Harry is supposed to sit on the throne as king Henry VIII, but that won't be possible unless he marries Catherine. O'Connor's other prominent roles include those in 'Handsome Devil', 'The Postcard Killings', 'Teen Spirit', and most recently 'Delicious'.
Harriet Walker
As Lady Margaret Beaufort, Walker is ruthless and vicious when it comes to her plans of sabotaging Catherine's plans of becoming the queen. Walker, an actor of tremendous expertise, also played the violent and unnerving Russian professional assassin Dasha in 'Killing Eve'. Other credits to her name include 'Sense and Sensibility', 'Belgravia', and 'Law & Order: London'.
Georgie Henley
Prince Harry's sister, Princess Margaret Tudor, has been played by Henley who was a star of our childhood as Lucy Pevensie in the Chronicles of Narnia film franchise. Apart from the three Narnia films, Henley has also starred in 'Perfect Sisters', and 'The Sisterhood of Night'.
Ray Stevenson
The 'Thor: Ragnarok' and 'Vikings' actor joins the cast of the Starz period drama as King James IV of Scotland. Stevenson's other well-known performances include Titus Pullo in the BBC/HBO television series 'Rome' and Dagonet, in the film 'King Arthur'. Stevenson will be joined by new cast member Sai Bennett as Princess Mary; Broadchurch’s Andrew Buchan as Sir Thomas More; and Downtown Abbey’s Peter Egan as 'General Howard'.
'The Spanish Princess' Season 2 premiers this Sundays, October 11, at 8 pm only on Starz.
