'The Masked Singer' Season 3: Finale will see Turtle, Night Angel and Frog vying for the coveted golden mask

'The Masked Singer' will officially award the golden mask trophy to its winner today. The Turtle, Night Angel and The Frog are the three masked celebrities who won all the challenges over the season and are now in the finale. All three have proved to be favorites among the judges, including Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy and Ken Jeong. All three finalists have won the hearts of audiences as well. The format of the show puts the power into the hands of studio audiences who vote for each performer and the one with the lowest votes is sent packing home.
The finale is upon us and that also means its time for the final unmasking of the runner ups and the winner of the competition. Word has been strong on Twitter that the Night Angel is 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' castmate Kandi Burruss. Even though people on the microblogging app were guessing this name for the longest time, it was in the past few episodes that the judges' panel too finally guessed Burruss' name for Night Angel's identity.
Last week she performed 'How to Love' by rapper Lil Wayne as a tribute to him. Wayne was also a participant this season and was the first contestant to be eliminated from the show. Coming back to Burruss being the Night Angel, last week as a part of her clue package, she mentioned that years ago she lost someone really close to her. Now its public knowledge that Burruss was engaged to Ashley Jewell who died outside a nightclub in a brawl. It's either him or it could be Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes from the band TLC who died in a car crash in Honduras in 2002.
Just recently, it was the 18th year of her passing and Burruss had shared a photo of her on Instagram, paying tribute to the late singer with a throwback picture. Burruss was also on 'Watch What Happens Live' last month and upon being asked if she is the celebrity under the mysterious mask, she chose to reserve her comments. Names like Regina King, Sia, Jessica Simpson, and Taraji P Henson have come up in discussions before for Night Angel's identity among judges. If Night Angel manages to win the competition, she will be the first female contestant to win the American version of the show.
The Turtle has time after time proven himself to be a great fit on the show. Not only does he get praised for his singing but he also closes almost all of his performances with thundering applause from studio audiences. Now there is one name that has managed to stick around from the first time that the Turtle got on to the stage this season. Nick Lachey, Drew Lachey, Chris Evans and Brian Littrell's are among the few names that have come up among the judges. However, the audiences at home think they know it's Jesse McCartney and comments on social media prove that they're not ready to accept any other name for the identity of the Turtle.
For the ones who don't know, there are a number of clues revealed on the show that ties the turtle with McCartney. This includes the time when he told judge Scherzinger that they spend a great morning together which could be a hint related to their appearance on the morning show titled 'Today' on NBC way back in 2008. Whether it's McCartney or the audiences were guessing it wrong all this while will finally be revealed after his mask comes off.
Finally, let talk about the most controversial contestant on the show, the Frog. He's been a hit with the studio audience and the judges seem to absolutely love him and his crazy dance moves. He's admitted in the past that he lacks singing abilities and makes up for that bit with him dancing and even though the judges don't mind it, the audiences at home do.
The show has seen the exit of great singers including Chaka Khan, Bret Michaels, Jackie Evancho and Barry Zito before him and the audiences at home are absolutely mad at him for making it all the way to the finale without actual singing skills. They constantly pick on him after his performances on the show with comments like "it's the masked singer and not the masked performer" and it would be absolutely devastating for them to witness him lifting the golden mask trophy.
Tune into the finale episode of 'The Masked Singer' tonight at 8 pm ET on FOX.
