'The Mandalorian' Episode 4: Mixed reactions pour in as fans welcome Gina Carano while others call it a 'filler episode'

While the fans enjoyed seeing the Mandalorian flex his dad muscles, some felt the episode was more filler than anything else

Spoiler alert for Episode 4 of 'The Mandalorian'

The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) broke hearts when he referred to little Baby Yoda as "my enemy" last week, but he more than made up for it this episode, as he shows the world just how good a dad he would make if the pair weren't being relentlessly pursued by bounty hunters.

It's hard being a single parent no matter what galaxy you're in. "The Mandalorian officially is the best dad of 2019," claimed one user on Twitter, high praise with 2020 right around the corner.

It comes as no surprise to anyone that the majority of internet buzz about 'The Mandalorian' continues to revolve around Baby Yoda. "The number of times I GASPED because of baby Yoda in the #Mandalorian episode 4 was insane," said another user.

The user added "I’d like to thank not only Disney+ but the bounty hunter who died in order for us to have more baby Yoda content," referring to the bounty hunter that Cara Dune (Gina Carano) killed to save Baby Yoda's life.

Speaking of Cara Dune, the internet has welcomed the new character with open arms, though there is some disappointment that she won't be returning for the next episode, as one tweet pointed out: "@ginacarano in the new episode of the Mandalorian was amazing, we need to see more of Cara Dune kicking butt."

Fans were somewhat divided on the episode's quality — some recognized the common tropes that the episode employed and loved 'The Mandalorian' for it.

"Even though it was a familiar story we've seen before in #StarWars, it was another solid episode of The Mandalorian," said one fan, with another saying "The MANDALORIAN has so many cliches and I love it."

On the other hand, others felt the episode lost momentum a little, feeling more like filler than anything else. "Did The Mandalorian really throw a filler episode at us when it's a 9 episode season?" asked one user.

One tweet took that sentiment a step further. "This episode was such a letdown. Hopeful they get back on track but man did that feel rushed. Last samurai in 10 mins of time. What a waste of an At-St." The next episode of 'The Mandalorian' airs on December 6 on Disney+.
