Disney has dropped the first official trailer for the 'Malcolm in the Middle' reunion. The show, officially titled 'Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair', will comprise four episodes and is slated to release on April 10. The show will feature iconic names Frankie Muniz and Bryan Cranston reprise their roles as Malcolm and Hal.

The new revival follows a grown-up Malcolm (Muniz) as he and his new daughter (Keeley Karsten) reunite with his family after 10 years. The trailer promises lots of laughs and emotional moments, sparking hope that it will live upto the original show.

The trailer also brings back Jane Kaczmarek's Lois, Christopher Kennedy Masterson, and Justin Berfield as Malcolm’s brothers, Francis and Reese, respectively, and Emy Coligado as Francis’s wife, Piama. It also brings new names in Anthony Timpano and Vaughan Murrae as the youngest siblings, Jamie and Kelly — seen as a baby/toddler (Jamie) or not at all (Kelly) on the original series.

Per Hulu, the official synopsis reads, "Malcolm has been intentionally hiding himself from this family for years!” says Lois in a bit of exposition. “You can’t spend the rest of your life hiding and denying your family even exists,” says Malcolm’s girlfriend, Tristan (Kiana Madeira). “It worked perfectly until they showed up!” retorts Malcolm. So what is the reason for the season? “After shielding himself and his daughter from his family for over a decade, Malcolm is dragged back into their orbit when Hal and Lois demand his presence at their 40th anniversary party."

Earlier, Muniz spoke of his time working on the original. “I was a kid,” Muniz told Variety. "I was like 13 to 20 when I was on the show, and I just kind of showed up and was excited to be there and said the words that were on the paper, and it worked. As an adult, you tend to overthink things … and you put more pressure on yourself as well. So I didn’t know what it was gonna be like — if it was going to be easy to be Malcolm, if it was gonna be awkward back with the cast. Not to sound like a cliché, but it was as if not a single day went by,” he continued. “All of us — every single person — like instantly fell back into their characters with, I’m talking the first table read," he added.

The original seven-season series 'Malcolm in the Middle' is available for streaming on both Hulu and Disney+.
