'The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die' Ending Explained: Is Uhtred really dead?

The good nature of Uhtred

Uhtred has been one of the noble characters in 'The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die'. Uhtred has always stood by truth and righteousness even when all odds are against him. Uhtred is the one who gives refuge to Queen Eadgifu and her son Edmund while knowing well that it will put him in danger. Uhtred takes on a dangerous task to go to the battlefield to learn and prevent the war. Uhtred could have stayed back and protected his land in Bebbanburg alone. Instead, his vision for the greater good and doing the right thing takes him on the righteous path and the battlefield. When Uhtred learns that his ward Aethelstan is taking on drastic measures and acting out under bad influences, Uhtred, instead of getting angry, tries to talk to him. Uhtred even forgives Aethelstan for banishing him.

Always make the right choices

Uhtred is shown as a great leader to the people of Bebbanburg. In fact, it is the only thing Uhtred had ever wished to be - a good leader to the people of his homeland. However, this status did not come easy. He had to face a lot of struggles and lose a lot of his beloved ones along the way. But Uhtred never failed to do his duties. This earned Uhtred loyal and trusted friends in Finan and Sihtric. Finan and Sihtric have saved Uhtred and followed him down the dangerous path because of his good nature.

Uhtred went to war to fight alongside Aethelstan even though his kingdom was safe at the time. Though Uhtred even got fatally wounded, he had no regrets about making that choice. Even on his dying breath, Uhtred finally pledges his homeland to Aethelstan only because it was the right thing to do. He even assures the future of England in a way that would benefit the entire nation. Uhtred has proved time and again that however hard the decision may be, making the right choice is the way to be.

'The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die' is available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
