Is it too late to say "we told you so"? Perhaps not! Fans as well as we were sure that Dr Shaun Murphy and Dr Carly Lever's budding romance is not the one to last. But we didn't expect it to end this way either.

The episode 'Unsaid' was a lot of things implied without saying much. Carly breaking up with Shaun said a lot about how she perceived their relationship.

In all honesty, it is outright ridiculous and unacceptable. There is a fine line between insecurity and concern. When Lea Dilallo and Shaun were staying in the same apartment or went to Wyoming to meet Shaun's dying father, Carly was insecure.

Feeling a little neglected in the early phase of a relationship is understandable. But when a guy like Shaun assures her about how he feels for Lea, we expect Carly to understand where he comes from and take him at face value. She might have been okay prima facie but deep down, she had her doubts. And that led to her looking at Shaun and Lea with colored glasses.

All it took her was to overanalyze a happy moment between two friends singing and dancing, to conclude that Shaun is in love with Lea, perhaps unknowingly.

Carly didn't care what Shaun actually felt at that moment or if he felt anything at all for Lea. She decided for him and didn't even care about the fact that Shaun was trying to create a sweet moment by wanting to cook her dinner.

It also didn't matter to Carly that Shaun could be devastated by the breakup. All she cared about was what she felt about him and his friend. Knowing Shaun, he doesn't care about complicated feelings. Instead, he likes to keep talks about what he feels. If he says he loves Carly and not Lea, it should be more than enough to trust him. But Carly misjudged him.

Now, as she breaks Shaun's heart and walks away, it not only leaves us shocked and disappointed but also with a question. How will Shaun cope with this?

In his defense, he has explained how he feels for Carly over and over but her insecurity got the better of her and made her ruin their beautiful relationship. Breaking up with a guy like Shaun can have its impact on the guy himself. Not only does he deal with autism but also with loneliness, which was all gone thanks to Carly.

That makes us worry about this young and extraordinary surgeon and wonder how he will react to the situation. Will he let Carly go and move on with life? Or will this break him badly? Or would he keep chasing Carly and beg her to come back? We hope that he doesn't have to go through another emotional spiral, as he did when his father died.

Watch what happens to Shaun and Carly's relationship when the show is back next Monday at 10 pm/9c, only on ABC.
