HALSTEAD, ENGLAND: Netflix is home to some of the most famous crime thrillers, and the latest addition to its streaming library, 'The Gentlemen', just makes the platform all the more attractive to fans of the crime genre.
The Guy Ritchie-created series, which is a spin-off of his 2019 cult hit of the same name, chronicles the story of Eddie Horniman (Theo James), who unavoidably becomes embroiled with criminals and embarks on a quest to protect himself and his family.
Eddie Horniman inherits more than just his father's wealth in 'The Gentlemen' Episode 1
As soon as Eddie, who's deployed in Turkey as a part of the UN’s border patrol, finds out about his father's deteriorating health, he returns home. Soon after, his father passes away.
However, Eddie as well as every other member of the family is shocked to learn that as per the 12th Duke of Halstead’s will, the younger brother will inherit his father's title and property, including an estate that’s been in the family for over 600 years.
This naturally angers his older brother, Freddy (Daniel Ings).
Things take a turn for the worse, as he finds out that his brother has been ordered to pay off his eight million-pound debt in a week or face serious consequences.
Eddie Horniman decides to sell Halstead Manor in 'The Gentlemen' Episode 1
After realizing he is short on cash but has plenty of possessions, he decides to sell the family estate, Halstead Manor.
After learning that an anonymous buyer is keen on purchasing the property promptly, he decides to finalize the sale as soon as possible.
However, he is blown away to know that the farm on the property is a front for Susie Glass' (Kaya Scodelario) marijuana growing facility and his family also gets a lucrative cut from the arrangement.
He decides against selling Halstead Manor after Susie promises to help him repay the debt by negotiating the terms of the loan with Tommy Dixon (Peter Serafinowicz).
