With 'Supergirl' coming to an end after seven scintillating seasons, 'The Flash' is now the only long-running show on The CW. Part of the Arrowverse roster, the series will premiere with its eighth season and will begin with a five-episode crossover event called 'Armageddon'. There is a slew of new updates in the offing as well. For starters, fans were treated to a glimpse of Barry's new suit during the DC Fandome earlier this year and will feature the iconic Golden Boots.

Talking about the costume upgrade and the boots during the marquee DC event, Grant Gustin, who plays the iconic superhero said, "The final element that’s been missing. I’ve loved all the versions of The Flash suit we’ve had on the show, but the suit we have now is the closest to the many iterations you see in the comic books—with the exception of those gold boots! I’ve always felt that those boots would be the final touch."

Ahead of the show's premiere, here's everything you need to know.

The only cast members confirmed to return are Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, and Jesse L Martin. Longtime fan-favorites Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon) and Tom Cavanagh (Harrison Wells/Reverse-Flash) left the series during Season 7, and this will be the first season that will not see them as regulars. Despite this, series executive producer Eric Wallace has confirmed that the Reverse-Flash will return in Season 8. The trailer shows Cavanagh briefly, meaning he would be around in a recurring capacity.

Jordan Fisher, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Natalie Dreyfuss, and John Wesley Shipp will pop up in guest-starring roles throughout the season, Showrunner Eric Wallace confirmed that Kristen Kramer (Carmen Moore) and Godspeed (Karan Oberoi) will be back in Season 8.

What is 'The Flash' Season 8 all about?

The Season 7 finale of 'The Flash' was an absolute humdinger as Barry Allen teamed up with Iris and his future children, Bart and Nora, along with Jay Garrick and the physical version of the Speed Force to defeat Godspeed. The series ended with his children deciding to stay in the current timeline. However, it also Barry brings the Reverse-Flash back to life and that means he will be up against his archnemesis in the latest season.

In addition, 'The Flash' Season 8 will begin with a five-episode event called "Armageddon" that will feature Javicia Leslie's Batwoman, Brandon Routh's The Atom, Cress Williams' Black Lightning, Chyler Leigh's Sentinel, and Kat McNamara as Mia Queen. Osric Chau as Ryan Choi, Tom Cavanagh, and Neal McDonough appear as villains Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash and Damien Darhk.

The official synopsis reads: "A powerful alien threat arrives on Earth under mysterious circumstances and Barry, Iris, and the rest of Team Flash are pushed to their limits in a desperate battle to save the world. But with time running out, and the fate of humanity at stake, Flash and his companions will also need to enlist the help of some old friends if the forces of good are to prevail."
