This article contains spoilers for 'The Flash' Season 6 Episode 2: 'A Flash of Lightning'

Barry's (Grant Gustin) visions of the future and the devastating news that followed have left a deep impact. A meta with the ability to control waves from the electromagnetic spectrum was running loose in Central City, yet the main focus was the imminent 'Crisis'.

While it was Barry who eventually ended up taking down the threat, there's an interesting plotline that sees Iris (Candice Patton) play detective when she teams up with Ralph Dibny (Hartley Sawyer) to figure out more about Allegra Garcia, the metahuman with the ability to control radio waves.

Iris has always been an integral part of Team Flash and apart from essaying the role of a journalist and a doting wife, the character even goes on to temporarily become a speedster in one of the episodes 'Run. Iris Run' (Season 4, Episode 16) when Barry's speed is accidentally given to her.

This season, a glimpse of her detective side is shown in 'A Flash of Lightning' and this is sure to come across as a plot point that would please fans.

Her investigation with Dibny reveals that Allegra has a baddie for a sister, Esperanza, who was also subjected to dark matter from the particle accelerator explosion and gained control of the rays from the electromagnetic spectrum.

She is on the hunt for Allegra and Team Flash decides to shield her. Iris, meanwhile, has a key role to play in season six. She was the only person with Barry to hear the news of the 'Crisis.

And while swallowing the bitter pill that she would lose Barry, she will also have to help team Flash. Since we're talking about her detective skills, there may be more of it in the episodes to come especially with Bloodwork's storyline coming up.

What are your thoughts on Iris' storyline leaning towards becoming a detective? 'The Flash' airs on Tuesdays at 8 pm on The CW.
