LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA:  In 'The Boys' Season 4, Episode 5, Hughie faces a tragic dilemma when he's compelled to harm someone he never wanted to hurt.

Each member of The Boys grapples with personal struggles throughout the season, and this episode continues that trend. Starlight finds her powers failing, Butcher and MM debate their strategy against Vought, and Hughie is confronted with a painful choice.

The season pushes these characters to grow, though their journeys are far from easy.

In 'The Boys' season 4, Episode 5 titled, 'Beware of the Jabberwock, My Son' the team prioritizes hunting down the Gen V Supe virus, setting aside their personal issues temporarily.

Meanwhile, Hughie confronts a deeply personal challenge involving his father, Hugh Sr., whose storyline comes to an emotional conclusion after the events involving Daphne and Compound V.

This family narrative doesn't offer a happy resolution for Hughie, but it does mark a significant moment of growth for him.

Why did Hughie kill his father Hugh Campbell Sr?

In 'The Boys' Season 4, Hughie faces a tough situation with his father, Hugh Campbell Sr. After Hugh Sr. gets injected with Compound V in Episode 4, he gains a strange power—he can walk through things and people.

But he can't control it and ends up hurting others accidentally. To make things worse, he doesn't remember recent events and thinks Hughie is still a child. This confusion makes him dangerous.

Hughie and Daphne decide that it's better to end Hugh Sr.'s life than to let him keep hurting people and live in confusion. This tough choice shows how Hughie has grown since the start of the season.

Despite doubts from Hugh Sr. about his decisions in the past, Hughie proves he can make hard choices when needed.

Hugh Sr.'s death in 'The Boys' Season 4 highlights Hughie's emotional journey and the difficult moral challenges faced by the characters dealing with Compound V and its consequences.

What Hughie's father's death could mean in 'The Boys'?

In 'The Boys' Season 4, Episode 5, Hughie makes tough choices that shape his character. The team sees Hughie as more sensitive, but he's learning to handle difficult situations, like dealing with his father.

Butcher and Kessler talk about tough decisions in this episode. Kessler thinks only Butcher can make them, but Hughie proves he can too by handling his father's situation.

If Hughie can handle saying goodbye to his father, he can likely make tough calls about Vought and Homelander. Even though MM leads The Boys now, Hughie's growth could lead him to take charge in the future.

His growth prepares him for bigger roles in 'The Boys' Seasons 4 and 5, even though Simon Pegg's character leaves the show.
