Ashley's decision to take Compound V was likely driven by her desire to stay relevant in a world where supes are increasingly powerful. As the VP of Hero Management, Ashley has always been focused on maintaining Vought's grip on the superhero industry.

However, with the rise of The Boys and the increasing scrutiny of Vought's practices, Ashley's position has become shaky. By taking Compound V, Ashley is hoping to gain the powers she needs to stay ahead of the game.

This move also highlights Ashley's desperation and willingness to do whatever it takes to maintain her status and influence. Her decision may also be an attempt to prove herself to her peers and colleagues, who may have doubted her abilities as a mere human.
