'The Blacklist' Season 9: Reddington and Ressler talk about Keen, fans turn emotional
For all you 'The Blacklist' fans tunning into Season 9, a lot has gone down on the crime drama, ever since the death of Elizabeth Keen. With the FBI task force dissolved, everyone seems to have gone on their own paths, but soon find themselves coming back together to solve a case that will prove to be an international disaster if the culprit is not caught.
The season premiere kicks off with Dembe (Hisham Tawfiq), a special agent with the FBI working undercover to expose a crime ring that is planning to steal highly valuable microchips being imported from Taiwan. However, the mission goes horribly wrong and Dembe's partner is killed, while he lands up in the hospital with third-degree burns. Cooper (Harry Lennix) soon finds himself springing back into action.

One of the most interesting and emotional scenes would have to be when Reddington (James Spader) visited Ressler. Although Resseler (Diego Klattenhoff) hates Reddington and blames him for Keen's death, he suggests that Reddington should come back and work with the task force as a way of honouring Keen's memory. Their conversation certainly added more insult to injury, as Ressler mentioned that he was in love with her and that the two of them wanted a life together. However, seeing that hers was cut short, that was no longer a possibility. Reddington reassured him that it was what she wanted to. Even though Ressler hates Reddington, they both can't ignore the fact that they are tethered together thanks to their connection with Keen. Reddington has to now make a tough choice -- help the team and keep the memory of his adoptive daughter alive or go back to his reclusive lifestyle hidden from the world.
The scene left fans feeling rather emotional as the fandom took to Twitter to chime in.
"That's why I came back because as much as I hate you, I loved her more." #TheBlacklist #Keenler @DKlattenhoff" tweeted a fan. "Now we get a Ressler “I love you” and he can’t say it to Liz. I want off this ride and a refund. #TheBlacklist" added another. "“She wanted a life with you too”" tweeted a fan with a quote from the show. ""I am attempting to build a life with the father of my child." Liz would've built a life with Ressler. Instead, she built her death. #KeenlerBaby #TheBlacklist" added another.
