WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND: After a few minor setbacks, Jenn Tran's quest for love with the 11 remaining guys on 'The Bachelorette' continues. However, fans were heartbroken when John Mitchell was sent home during the Rose Ceremony in Episode 5.

In the August 5 episode of 'The Bachelorette' Season 21, the Rose Ceremony followed Matt Rossi's departure.  Devin Strader, Sam McKinney, and Marcus Shoberg had already secured roses from their group and one-on-one dates. Jenn then awarded the remaining roses to Grant Ellis, Jeremy Simon, Jonathon Johnson, Spencer Conley, Dylan Buckor, and Austin Ott, resulting in Thomas Nguyen and John M being sent home.

On X, one disappointed fan wrote, "Nooo not John M… chocolate thunda!" Another fan added, "I’m still bummed that John went home he’s so cute."



 



 

One fan wrote, "So glad Thomas N is gone but know his annoying ass will sadly be on paradise to interrupt happy couples. John deserved more." Another fan added, "Sorry for John. Just never got that time with Jenn. Hope to see him on Paradise in 2025."

John M, who previously played as a wide receiver for the Florida Atlantic University Owls before switching to tight end, is now 25 years old. He currently resides in Delray Beach, though he was born and raised in Tallahassee.

John M has emphasized that, alongside athletics, academics have always been a priority for him, thanks to being raised by two educators. According to FAUsports.com and his LinkedIn page, he earned a bachelor's degree in biological science with a pre-medical focus and completed a master's degree in biomedical sciences last year.

He plans to become a surgeon and is currently enrolled in medical school, according to WTXL, an ABC station in Tallahassee. Fans were hopeful that he and Jenn would be a great match, given that she is also pursuing a medical career as a physician's assistant. However, the latest episode on Monday left them disappointed.

'The Bachelorette' Season 21 star John Mitchell stayed out of the game because of major injuries

In a video interview, John M talked about his recovery from back surgery, which sidelined him for the entire 2017 season, as well as an ACL injury that kept him out of action for the entire 2021 season.

He is seeking a kind, trustworthy, and ambitious spouse who aspires to have a large family, as stated in his bio on ABC's website. In addition to enjoying game evenings, movies, basketball, and Christmas, he also likes studying Spanish.



 

'The Bachelorette' Season 21 airs on Mondays at 8 pm ET on ABC
