'The Bachelorette' Season 21: Fans slam Jenn Tran’s ex Matthew Rossi for disrupting Rose Ceremony
AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND: If there's one thing, Bachelor Nation doesn't enjoy, it's a change in schedule. But if you're bringing in The Bachelorette's ex to disrupt a Rose Ceremony, you're in for a fight.
Ahead of the Episode 4 Rose Ceremony Cocktail Party, host Jesse Palmer addressed the camera directly from a hotel lobby, saying, "A guy from Jenn’s past has reached out to one of our producers — it’s obviously not normal, it’s very unexpected. I’m told that he’s flown himself halfway around the world to New Zealand on his own dime just to have a conversation with Jenn. His flight landed an hour ago, he’s on his way to the hotel now. I’m sure he’s exhausted. My plan is to meet him here at hotel, talk to him, and find out what it is he wants to say to Jenn."
Angry fans took to X to ask, "This goofy ass guy is really preventing us from having a rose ceremony tonight???" Another person chimed in, "I love you Jenn but allowing your ex boyfriend to join the group and even join the rose ceremony that night is just insulting and not fair to the other men. He’s an ex for a reason!"

One user asked, "We don’t get a rose ceremony this week because of THIS whiny m-fer?" A fourth user added, "This guy…. YOURE WASTING OUR TIME WE WANTED TO SEE A ROSE CEREMONY NOT YOU."

One viewer complained, "We know production interferes, but if she wanted this ex, she could have had him, definitely a bad look, don't blame any guy upset, plus she ain't picking this guy I'd rather had the rose ceremony." Others sighed, "So NO rose ceremony bc we had to watch Jenn ex show up out the blue."

Matt Rossi claims to be still in love with 'The Bachelorette's Jenn Tran
Matt Rossi, 27, an insurance executive from Atlanta, Georgia, strolled in. He informed Jesse that he and Jenn Tran dated for three or four months, roughly three years ago, and they've been back together several times since then.
“When she got up and left, it felt like I couldn’t just let her go, and I’m here to tell Jenn, ‘I still love you’ and ‘I’m here to show you that.’ Whatever I have to do to earn that trust back, I’m here to see if there’s a future with us,” Matt noted.
Jesse brought him over to Jenn's filming site to make his case, and Jenn was completely taken aback by his appearance.
Who is 'The Bachelorette' Jenn Tran's ex Matt Rossi?
Despite being from Atlanta, Georgia, Matt appears to be a brand manager and content producer based in Boston. He received his degree from the University of Michigan in 2018.
In addition, you might be familiar with him from his Dachshund, Kirkland (yep, named after the Costco hotdogs). Matt appears to be acquainted with the internet limelight, even if he may be new to the Bachelor series.
Before making his Bachelorette debut, he had acquired 54,800 Instagram followers under the handle @themattyrossi and about 59,000 TikTok followers. Those who watch Joey Graziadei's season of 'The Bachelor' on a regular basis may also recall that Matt was the one who posted about his ex-girlfriend appearing on the show.
After Hulu made a remark requesting further details, Matt asked Kirkland to provide the following explanation of his relationship with Jenn, "OK so when I was still a twinkle in my dad’s eye he was a 24-year-old fuckboy living in Boston with his three best friends. This really weird thing called COVID had just come to an end…anyways he was painfully single, not too different than how he is right now, so he decided to go on this app called Hinge, which he had never done before because he was scared of Craigslist killers and he found this really cute, sweet girl named Jenn — totally out of his league. Somehow she gave him a chance, they hit it off, and they started dating. Things started to heat up and got pretty serious and Jenn was ready to settle down with her person, but my dad just wasn’t there yet. He was still, as I said, a fuckboy. Anyway, as the years passed they stayed friends and now my dad’s using her for clout."
Jenn Tran concerned about Matt Rossi's arrival may change shift in 'The Bachelorette' Season 21 cast
On 'The Bachelorette' Season 21, Episode 4, he surprises Jenn by saying, "I was really looking forward to a trip to Columbia with you, and I went for a few days, and it wasn’t the same without you there. I blew off both the weddings, flew off to see you, it’s been a 24-hour journey, but I couldn’t go to the weddings without you."
Jenn screams, "AHHH MATTHEW! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
Matt clarified that he was in love with Jenn and that he still feels the same way about her. He begs for an opportunity to let her know how much she still means to him, but Jenn looks deeply taken aback by the grandiose display of affection.
After making it clear that Matt is not the nasty ex she keeps bringing up throughout the season, she says she is puzzled about his intentions because she believed they had reunited as friends over the last several months.
"You're one of the most important people in my life," Matt says to Jenn. "You know me more than anyone else in the world, and I’m not ready to let it all go."
Her answer? "You know you could have said this before I left."
Matt says he tried to express his feelings to her, but just in case she wasn't sure, he told her, "I really do love you. My intentions are to be with you. And I want to continue this journey together."
Before the Rose Ceremony, he approaches Jenn and wants to accompany her on her journey. She turns to consider what his casting would imply for her and her original men.
"I am afraid of what it might stir up in these guys and how they might feel about it. But I also know Matt a lot better than I know these guys that I’ve just met a couple weeks ago. He’s someone I care about. I have a difficult decision to make, and I don’t know where my heart is pulling me."
New episodes of 'The Bachelorette' Season 21 air on Mondays at 8 pm ET on ABC, and are available on Hulu the following day.
