'The Bachelorette' Season 21: Viewers call out first Asian-American lead Jenn Tran for her 'fake' personality
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA: Since the announcement of Jenn Tran as the lead in 'The Bachelorette' Season 21, the ABC star has faced considerable criticism. Even though fans were ready to welcome her with open arms and defend her against whoever questioned her, things changed as the 'The Bachelor' spin-off stepped into Week 2 of the reality dating show.
Jenn is the first Asian-American lead to feature in 'The Bachelorette'. Jenn's mission in Season 21 of the program, which began on July 8 on ABC and is presently streaming on Hulu, was to reduce a pool of 25 love-struck men to half, in order for the show to advance to the next level.
However, two weeks into the journey, many viewers are taking to social media to call Jenn "fake." On a Reddit post, a user asked, "Is it just me, or does Jenn not really have a personality? This is my first time watching any bachelor show, I watched bc she was the first Asian American but so far all her responses seems so fake and it’s just hard to be engaged or interested in her or root for her…like especially when one of the men are being super obnoxious it seems like she just has no opinion and goes along with it like GIRL DONT EMBARASS US."
Others complained, "The lead never gets to show any personality."
Another user also noted, "She really doesn’t seem to have a personality. I felt the same way about her on last season. She says forced things that don’t seem authentic to her, and I don’t see who she actually is. And it doesn’t come off shy/reserved, it comes off as someone with a lack of depth/life experience.. and I think we see that playing out in how her strongest connections seem to be based on making out, vs watching her have any meaningful conversations with these guys? Idk I went in open minded and am just disappointed overall."
A fourth user sighed, "I felt this way about her last season too."
Who does Jenn Tran get engaged to in 'The Bachelorette' Season 21?
Steve Carbone, dubbed "Reality Steve," is a popular TV and 'The Bachelorette' blogger. He released spoilers for Jenn's "Bachelorette" finale on May 31.
According to the blogger, Jenn will spend the last episode on the huge island of Hawaii, with 31-year-old Marcus Shoberg and 28-year-old Devin Strader as the two last guys standing. Steve claims that Jenn eventually gets engaged to Devin.
The blogger's theories have been proven correct (and incorrect) in the past.
What happened during 'The Bachelorette' Season 21 final rose ceremony?
Jenn donned a white dress to the Final Rose Ceremony, which was recorded at a mansion on Hawaii's shore, according to Reality Steve. Devin also sported a white suit and a black tie, according to images acquired by Reality Steve.
Jenn and Devin's engagement was also revealed at the chilly start of 'The Bachelorette' Season 21, leading viewers to believe that Jenn left the Final Rose Ceremony single after rejecting her last contender.
"I can't let you propose to me," Jenn says at the beginning to her last competitor, whom Reality Steve recognized as Devin based on the color of the contestant's suit in the video.
Who is Devin Strader in 'The Bachelorette' Season 21?
Devin, Jenn's winner, is a 28-year-old freight company owner from Rosenberg, Texas, who currently resides in Houston, Texas. His Instagram account is @devin.strader.
Devin is the proprietor of F1 Freight Consultants, a "full-scale, dedicated Truckload and LTL service provider," which began operations in March 2023, according to his LinkedIn profile.
New episodes of 'The Bachelorette' Season 21 air on Mondays at 8 pm ET on ABC, and are available on Hulu the following day
