It was just a matter of time before Libby Hatch (Rosy McEwen) killed a well-loved character on 'The Alienist: Angel Of Darkness'. In the Season 2 finale of the show, Libby escapes from prison after her lover Goo Goo Knox (Frederick Schmidt) incites a bloody riot. Both of them rush to her daughter Clara (Brooke Carter), where they are intercepted by the Isaacson brothers. Unfortunately, Lucius Issacson (Matthew Shear) is unable to pull the trigger on the gun and Goo Goo gets the upper hand and punches him in the face. Marcus Issacson (Douglas Smith) tries to stop the two of them (completely unarmed, mind you), and Goo Goo guns him down.

So, Marcus is killed and fans are shedding several tears over it. "#theAlienist. Damn Not Marcus can we rewind and trade him for John," a fan wrote, rather upset at the way John Moore (Luke Evans) has been behaving lately.

Many fans just kept tweeting a shocked 'no'. Another wrote, "#TheAlienist #AngelOfDarkness has proved itself. I hope TnT moves to work out a third and maybe more seasons. It sucked to see Marcus die, because I love the brothers. But there are more ways to move forward. Of course, the curtain hasn't dropped yet. Here's hoping," a fan wrote.

"That was an unnecessary plot twist. Pure meanness by scriptwriters #TheAlienist," a fan wrote, with several crying emoticons.

The official page of the 'Alienist', tweeted in memory of Marcus, "Marcus Isaacson was one of our own. A moment of silence for a trust-worthy colleague, a respected brother, and a steadfast companion. #TheAlienist."

"I just can’t with this show!!!!, how could they kill my sweet Marcus #TheAlienist," another wrote.

For the first time, even a sweet moment between John and Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning) can't be enjoyed. "I want to enjoy that moment between Jonh and Sara but I can't because they fucking killed Marcus," a fan tweeted.

Meanwhile, John, Sara and Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Brühl) go on a wild-goose chase to hunt down Libby Hatch for the last and final time. Libby is all kinds of frightening and doesn't think twice about blood to get what she wants.

Tune into 'The Alienist: Angel Of Darkness' on TNT, for the finale.
