Teyana Taylor to sue TikToker who claimed she took drugs as Iman Shumpert cheated on her
Teyana Taylor is responding angrily to claims that she’s so frustrated with her husband Iman Shumpert's alleged infidelity that she has started taking drugs. The 31-year-old singer-songwriter in a recent interview with Ebony Magazine said she’s planning to sue a TikTok user for spreading fake news. She stated: “I absolutely intend to pursue legal action—not because I’m looking to win a ton of money—but, merely because people have to start understanding that this is not ok!”
Teyana's statement comes after a TikTok account, which reenacts "unconfirmed stories and parodies," posted a story that many assumed was about her.
She continued: “Their malicious actions and recklessness need to heed some sort of repercussions. Intending to attempt to ruin someone’s life for a story is just simply not ok. I’m not your clickbait. PERIOD!” The ‘From A Planet Called Harlem’ singer also noted that such fake information “hurt the most because I take pride in being a mother and would never be that irresponsible. I’ve never used drugs a day in my life, nor do I smoke, and only drink occasionally. My health issues were never a secret, we actually outwardly shared them with the world on our reality tv show, ‘We Got Love’. So, for someone to take that and make it a joke is extremely hurtful. It makes me emotional thinking about it.”

Taylor’s professional basketball player husband, who also sat for the same interview, said, “For me, it’s like a helpless feeling, because no matter what we do as far as a narrative, when a story like this already has legs, I’m not changing people’s minds with what I say.As an artist, If I get 300 messages about it, she’s getting 30,000 messages about it. So, it’s a little bit different [for her]. She walks around and people are staring at her differently.”
He then added: “If she did coke, why would I be cool with that? Why would I not care about my kids enough to say, ‘Yo, you can’t be around my kids?’ It’s disrespectful in so many ways that people don’t think through. Just the way it was broken down I’m like, bro, I cannot believe this is real. Like we’re waking up to this. Like we’re really having a conversation about a TikTok?’ I don’t know where people get off. I live a real life and that’s really my wife, these really are our kids, we really love each other, and we’re really going to go hard.”
Taylor had earlier taken to her Instagram to slam the people spreading rumors about her and her marriage. In a now-deleted post, she had said, “The person who sent in this CAP a** TikTok story is a fool, the person who 're-enacted' this CAP a** story is a fool (she better have her court coin ready) but the people who believed the CAP a** story are the biggest fools smh. Y'all allow a YT girl to pull some s**t like this during Black History Month???”
She fumed at the time: “1. NO ONE have been 'hired' or 'fired' on my team. My whole staff is my family & all still currently work fro me. 2. I DO NOT DO DRUGS, s**t I don't even smoke weed & only drink occasionally. 4. If I overdosed where's the 911 call?? How would I be able to walk myself in to the hospital?” before adding, “NOBODY AND I MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOBODY CAN MAKE PETUNIA OVERDOSE ON A DAMN THING. I'd kill @imanshumpert fine a**, put him in a nice suit and bury him my damn self before I EVER let him or ANYBODY to push me to do drugs or take myself out.”
