A Starbucks barista in Texas helped a teenager she thought could be in danger. The girl's mother, Brandy Selim Roberson, praised the employee for saving her 18-year-old daughter who was approached by a creepy man while she was studying by herself at a Corpus Christi location.

“The man was very loud and animated,” Roberson told New York Post. The employee approached the girl with “an extra hot chocolate someone forgot to pick up". On the cup, she wrote, "Are you okay? Do you want us to intervene? If you do, take the lid off the cup.” “She looked up and just saw a row of baristas staring at her– ready to step in,” said Roberson. The teenager, who did not need help, let the staff know she was okay.

“This reaffirms my faith in humanity,” said Roberson. "Maybe just seeing this story, others…if given the opportunity to say something or turn away, they would say something.” The mother hopes other companies teach their staffers to tackle problems the same way.

In a Facebook post, Roberson praised the Starbucks employee. Sharing a picture of the cup with the message written on it, Roberson wrote, "My 18 year-old daughter was at Starbucks, alone, the other night. A man came up to her and started talking to her. A barista handed her “an extra hot chocolate someone forgot to pick up.” How grateful I am for people who look out for other people!
Side note: She felt safe and did not remove the lid, but let them know. She said the whole team was watching over her the rest of the time she was there. Thank you to the team at Starbucks on Staples and SPID in Corpus Christi." Her Facebook post could not be directly accessed as her account is set to private.

In a similar incident in December last year, a creepy customer was kicked out by a waitress at Long Island’s Massapequa Diner after witnesses claimed that the man tried to give his cellphone number to “underaged girls", made “loud” anti-LGBTQ slurs and kept calling his server a b***h. The man, who is unidentified, allegedly "stared at and tried to solicit his phone number" to a group of young girls. He was also accused of hurling homophobic and sexist slurs at the Massapequa Diner. In a video that is now viral, Albert is heard saying, "Honestly, nobody wants to wait on you, we’re asking very nicely so please just leave." "You’re not going to call me a b – – ch, you’re not going to sit near my boss’ wife, you’re not going to call people a lesbian — you sure as hell ain’t going to look at underage girls,” Alber said, garnering a round of applause from Cozzolino’s table.
