The latest movie in the ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ has finally been released on Netflix and Leatherface is set to haunt people once again with his electric saw. The Netflix film serves as a legacy sequel to the original ‘TCM’ movie that was released in 1974. The story revolves around four young people making their way to Harlow for an auction. However, everything starts going downhill when they accidentally disrupt Leatherface’s life.

Although the movie has opened to mixed reviews critics have praised the film’s efficient execution. On the other hand, performances by Sarah Yarkin (Melody), Elsie Fisher (Lila), and Mark Burnham (Leatherface) are also garnering a lot of acclaim.

However, it seems viewers are not happy with the latest entry in the franchise and are expressing their disappointment on social media.

Social media users did not shy away from shredding the movie to pieces and said that it was “misguided” from start to finish. One of the users said, “The new #TexasChainsawMassacre is not good. Frustrating & misguided from start to finish. TCM tries to add legacy characters & social commentary. Sadly, the mixture of these themes is incoherent. Fisher & Yarkin are the only good; everything else is bad.”

Another social media user wrote, “#TexasChainsawMassacre is embarrassingly bad. This is the 100% truth coming from a hardcore horror lover. Sorry, but it’s made for 13-year-olds. Meanwhile, another user said, “Sorry #Netflix… I Tried to watch it… but there’s nothing special about this film that Dimension Extreme Films hasn’t already done for the past 15 years … cut off at the 50min mark… 3/10.”]

“The biggest issue with the new #TexasChainsawMassacre is that it’s painfully noticeable lack of any likable characters,” said another one. “I was disappointed by the new #TexasChainsawMassacre. No likable characters, dodgy script, quite a bit of gore,” said another social media user.

On the other hand, there were some who liked the movie and praised it for taking them for an entertaining ride. One of the users wrote, “Holy shit. #TexasChainsawMassacre is WAY better than y'all suggested so far. Sally's storyline is dumb, but this is the fun, mindless horror that Halloween Kills wished that it was.”

“Just got done watching, #TexasChainsawMassacre on Netflix. Definitely, one you don’t wanna miss!! Definitely a great film debut for David Blue Garcia. Gore at its finest,” said another user.

The ending of ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ indicated that Leatherface will return to wreak havoc again. Will there be another movie? We’ll have to wait for the official announcement.
