No points for guessing that we have finally got the first look at our new Leatherface. The iconic villain is out for revenge and heads back in town for literally ripping out some guts. Did the group manage to survive? Or once again, the Leatherface comes out to be the only survivor. Let’s find out.
‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ Ending Explained: Did Melody and Elsie finish Leatherface’s terror?
As soon as the caretaker of the orphanage gets sick, her son and police officials take her to the hospital. One of the friends from the group, Ruth (Nell Hudson), stops her boyfriend Dante (Jacob Latimore) from going with them as many people are coming to town to see him and Melody (Sarah Yarkin). A few moments later we see the old lady dying in the van due to a heart attack. Her son tries to revive her by giving her oxygen from the machine, but the police officer stops him because she is dead. The guy doesn’t like that and breaks his arm. He breaks his arm in such a manner that his bones are visible and then he shoves those bones into his neck. In the process, the other policeman also gets injured and the car crashes in a field. Ruth sees from the mirror what the man is trying to do. He takes the old lady’s body and peels off her face to make a mask. So, this is the first look at our new Leatherface.
He approaches the car and sees one of the police officers still moving. So, he kills him and walks away. Ruth acts like she is dead and gets saved momentarily. But as soon as she tries to get away, Leatherface returns and kills her. Interestingly, she is the only character that Leatherface didn’t kill as gruesomely as others in the past.
Meanwhile, back in town, the group is having an auction and everything seems to be normal. Melody checks her phone and sees a message from Ruth that says “old lady has died.” As of now, no one knows what happened to Ruth. Melody feels that something is not right and wants to leave the place with her sister. Dante (Jacob Latimore) believes that it’s wasn’t their fault that the lady had a heart attack. Melody asks her if he has papers for the property, but he doesn’t have them.
Richter, one of the men living in the ghost town, has learned what has happened to the old lady and takes the bus keys from the group, saying that they can only go from here once they show the papers.
They go and check the orphanage. But Leatherface reaches there and brutally kills Dante with a butcher’s knife. Melody sees Dante’s body from a distance and sees what Leatherface is doing with it. He believes someone is watching him and when he turns around, Melody seems to have vanished. She reaches Leatherface’s room and hides in the closet. Thankfully, he doesn’t find her and sees how a group of young people is enjoying on the bus. He gets furious after seeing and finally takes out his electric saw. In the meantime, we saw Dante is not dead and still has some life in him. He reaches out and one of the men, Richter (Moe Dunford), gets terrified after seeing that his face has been brutally chopped off from the left side. On the other hand, one of the people from the bus also sees him and returns to the bus.
Meanwhile, Richter goes inside the orphanage and gets attacked by Leatherface. He tries to put up a good fight, but the terrifying villain kills him by smashing his head repeatedly with a hammer. Melody sees bus keys and plucks them from Richter’s jeans. She tries leaving but gets seen by Leatherface. He hits her hard and she falls down. Leatherface tries killing her with the electric saw, but she manages to get out of the house because of her sister Lila (Elsie Fisher).
They reach the bus and give the keys to the driver, but Leatherface sees them and stops the bus by tearing the tires off. The driver of the bus goes out to see what has happened and only his head returns inside the bus. Leatherface enters the bus and wreaks havoc as he kills every single soul on the bus. However, Melody and her sister get away by escaping through the bus toilet’s roof. They make their way out and suddenly see a car approaching them. It’s none other than Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouere).
Hardesty takes them in the car and goes out to kill Leatherface. Melody and Lila are scared to go and wait in the car. Hardesty comes face to face with Leatherface, but he doesn’t remember her. A good fight scene takes place as Hardesty tries killing him. On the other hand, Melody and Lila are trying to start the car to get out of there. They manage to do that but Leatherface throws the electric saw at them, and the car crashes.
Hardesty has been badly injured and succumbs to the injuries. Melody gets injured as well but Lila is safe and checks up on Sally. She hands her the shotgun to kill Leatherface. Meanwhile, the villain has seen Melody and is going to kill her, but Lila comes there and calls him out.
She manages to evade him, but she knows that she has to kill him if his terror needs to be stopped. So, she follows him and reaches an old theatre. Leatherface stuns her from behind and they both fall in an area filled with water. A few seconds later, Lila comes out and when we thought Lila has done the unthinkable, Leatherface re-emerges. Lila runs for the gun but Leatherface throws the electric saw at her and cuts her feet. But, Melody reaches there and saves her sister. As Leatherface was trying to kill Melody, Lila takes the gun and shoots Leatherface, but the gun gets jammed after two shots.
It’s Melody who becomes the savior when she cuts the villain’s face with the electric saw. The terrifying ordeal has finally ended and now they are heading back. As they head back, the Leatherface literally takes Melody out of the running car and cuts her head with the electric saw.
The movie ends with Leatherface in his all glory.
The ending seems to be indicating that the franchise will get more movies and we might see Leatherface striking again.
