'F**k Brittney Griner': Tekashi 6IX9INE slammed for dissing jailed WNBA star upon arrival in Russia
MOSCOW, RUSSIA: While much of the world is showing support for Brittney Griner, who is in Russian custody since February 17, 2022, American rapper Tekashi 6IX9INE was caught dissing the WNBA player after landing in Russia, despite a directive by United States government to not travel to the country.
After arriving in the country, the ‘ZAZA’ singer took to his Instagram stories to share a video of himself at a Moscow city square clad in all black and oversized sunglasses. While giving shout-outs and greets to his followers, Tekashi said "You know we out here, he continued, S**t is crazy.”

The WNBA player was arrested and detained by the Russian authorities in February 2022 after they recovered hashish oil in her luggage at an airport. She was sentenced to nine years in prison on drug charges. Many celebrities, politicians, and citizens have been calling for her release.
However, these comments by the rapper have sparked backlash on social media. Reacting to the Rapper’s statement, a social media user said, “I think I speak for many when I say we'd happily trade 69 for Griner. You can have him, Putin.”
“He clearly wants to go viral to build a buzz up. All attention is good attention for him. However, I think anyone traveling to Russia during the war is a dumbass. He's probably comfortable though because he knows if anyone captures him he'll snitch,” said another user. The third user said, “Somebody over there plz snatch his ass up. I promise you he won’t be missed or even thought of.”

There is no denying the fact that Tekashi is making headlines for his controversies more than for his songs. The rapper not just breached the US government’s directive of not traveling to Russia but also confessed his love for Russia on the stage of his concert. “I am not afraid to come to you, because you are my family, and Russia is my second home. If I die, then don’t send me to America, bury me in Russia,” the artist said from the stage.
Earlier this week, the rapper picked up a fight with a DJ in Dubai. In the incident caught on camera, Tekashi 6ix9ine is seen attacking the DJ and was, in return, attacked by several men who retaliated.
In 2020, rapper 6ix9ine was sued for filming and publishing pornographic videos featuring a 13-year-old girl. In 2018, the rapper was sentenced to four years of probation and 1,000 hours of community service for posting the aforementioned videos. He then pleaded guilty to the incident.
