Ted Cruz slammed for calling Jen Psaki 'Peppermint Patty' during CPAC speech

Republican Sen Ted Cruz recently called White House press secretary Jen Psaki 'Peppermint Patty' during his CPAC speech. He also said that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rides a 'broom', slammed Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and got the crowd to chant 'Let's Go Brandon'. At the conference, he claimed that the battle now being fought by the nation is between 'power and liberty'. However, the member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee did not address Russia's assault on Ukraine.

During his speech, Cruz said, "Across the board, big government sucks. The business sucks. Big Hollywood, big universities - any accumulation of power that is centralized is fundamentally dangerous for individual liberty." He added that liberty was under assault because those entities "work together hand in hand."

"You look at what happened with Joe Rogan - Joe Rogan, Jen Psaki," he said. "Oh come on, Jen Psaki doesn't get the Justin Trudeau treatment? Peppermint Patty deserves some love!" Psaki had previously appreciated Spotify for slapping disclaimers on Rogan's show. This came after the host claimed he was unvaccinated. He also spoke about unproven Covid-19 cures, such as ivermectin. 

Cruz soon proceeded to talk about the 2022 midterm races. The CPAC, which began on Thursday, February 24, is set to continue through the weekend. "Let me say one final thing - In January of 2023 I am looking forward to walking down the hallway of the United States Capitol. And bumping into a little man wearing overalls. He's carrying a screwdriver and coming to change the sign on Nancy Pelosi's door," Cruz said. "And Nancy is going to get on her broom - OK, no, no that's not fair, that's not fair - she's going to get on her private jet, called the U.S.S. Broom and fly back to California and we're going to send Chuck Schumer back to New York City." "And we're going to tell Joe Biden it's 2025 and he'll just wander back to Delaware," he added.

Predicting that 'change is coming', Cruz said, "It is powerful. You wanna know how powerful? Find me one person on planet earth who doesn't know what "Let's Go Brandon" is". A chant of 'Let's Go Brandon' then ensued. 

Psaki has responded to Cruz' 'Peppermint Patty' remark. "Don't tell him I like Peppermint Patty - so I'm not going to take it too offensively. Sen. Cruz, I like Peppermint Patty. I'm a little tougher than that, so there you go," Daily Mail quoted her as saying.

Soon after Cruz's comment on Psaki, the Internet started a meme fest. Some social media users cracked jokes, while some slammed Cruz for his remark. Some criticized him for giving more importance to topics such as these instead of the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
