Jen Psaki slammed as hypocrite over old Trump tweet amid Biden-Ghani call debacle
White House press secretary Jen Psaki is being trolled for a resurfaced tweet where she blasted former President Donald Trump for choosing not to be transparent about his phone call with his 2019 Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky about investigating then-presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
Psaki is being called out for her old tweet amid reports of a controversial July phone call between President Biden and former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani that took place on July 23, amid the military withdrawal from Afghanistan and a Taliban takeover. The transcript of the call, which was reviewed by Reuters showed that Biden didn’t anticipate the Taliban’s rapid advance across Afghanistan, which ultimately led to the radical Islamic group storming Kabul on August 15 and Ghani fleeing the presidential palace. Instead, during the 14-minute conversation, Biden's focus was to fix the Afghan government’s "perception" problem.

"I need not tell you the perception around the world and in parts of Afghanistan, I believe, is that things are not going well in terms of the fight against the Taliban," Biden said. "And there is a need, whether it is true or not, there is a need to project a different picture." This review of the call sparked outrage against Biden as people accused the POTUS of misleading Afghanistan only so that he could execute his plan of withdrawing his military forces by belittling the threat from the Taliban.
Psaki dodges questions about Biden's phone call

Meanwhile, at the White House press briefing on Wednesday, September 1, Psaki dodged questions about Biden's phone call with Ghani. "Well, I'm not going to get into private, diplomatic conversations or leaked transcripts of phone calls," Psaki said. "But what I can reiterate for you is that we have stated many times that no one anticipated … that the Taliban would be able to take over the country as quickly as they did or that the Afghan National Security Forces would fold as quickly as they did."
"So even the content of the reporting is consistent with what we’ve said many times publicly," she continued. "I’ll also note something the president said in his press conference around the same time of this reported phone call: The Afghan government and leadership has to come together. They clearly have the capacity to sustain the government in place. The question is, will they generate the kind of cohesion to do it."
'This didn’t age well'
Meanwhile, an old tweet posted by Psaki, who was then a CNN contributor, calling for transparency in the early weeks of Trump's Ukraine scandal has gone viral as people started pointing out the hypocrisy of her actions. "It is not just the call transcript. The whistleblower complaint would likely have more details. We need both. And not just the call," the tweet said.

Psaki was bashed for her double standard in dealing with political stories, especially when her own boss is involved in the mix. "But now you refuse to answer questions on Biden’s call with Ghani? What happened to the promise that this administration will be about ‘truth and transparency?" political strategist Vanessa Castro commented underneath the resurfaced tweet.
Another social media user said, "Man if these people were smart they would have taken all their tweets down before flipping the script. want to circle back on this one jen???" One more wrote, "Weird how you don’t want to share a phone call POTUS made now… I wonder why?"
The next remarked, "Really. This same thing got trump impeached." Another quipped, "Ok…I think I figured it out This should solve it all DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO." One more said, "When the most important qualification for a job is to be able to make straight face when u lie and running around with ur word, she is what u get." A person reacted with, "Going into details private call? Double faced huh." One commenter wrote, "This didn’t age well." Another said, "I’d ask how do you keep every story straight, but that answer is obvious. You kinda don’t." One more stated, "Stop defending the indefensible. Stop being shameless."
