'SZA deserved Album of the Year': Internet left disappointed as Taylor Swift makes history with 14 Grammys

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift has made history by winning 14 Grammys over her career. She broke the internet after securing her 4th Album of the Year Award at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. While Swifties celebrated her victory, many were disappointed with SZA losing in the same category. Alongside Taylor, Solana Imani Rowe aka SZA, was also nominated for the Album of the Year category for her album 'SOS.' Seeing Taylor also win Best Pop Vocal Album for her song 'Midnight,' people were left tired of seeing her on the stage.

Many argued that SZA was more deserving than Taylor, leading to a user tweeting, "I’m sorry buuuut SZA should’ve won album of the year not Taylor. They really played in my girl face UNACCEPTABLE." Another claimed, "AOTY was for SZA!! . I'm tired of Taylor." 

A disappointed fan exclaimed, "SZA lost to Taylor Swift… SOS lost to whatever her album was called. THIS IS WILDDD." Another disapproved of Taylor's win, stating, "I mean I shouldn’t be surprised but still I lowkey thought AOTY would go to SZA cause SOS was a pretty good album and everyone was in love with it and got played everywhere. But, yet again it goes to Taylor Swift."

"Taylor Swift could sing about pissing outside and they will give her an award for it and SZA wrote one of the best albums ever, she DESERVED Album of The Year," another angry user tweeted after the award ceremony. "Taylor Over Sza IKYFL," tweeted one.

SZA became the first artist with the most nominations at the Grammys 2024. She earned nine nominations, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and more. She secured victories in three categories. SZA was awarded the Grammy for Pop Duo/Group Performance for 'Ghost in the Machine,' the Urban Contemporary Album Award for 'SOS,' and the Best R&B Song Award for 'Snooze.'

Taylor delighted the Swifties with the announcement of a new album on Sunday. As she went on to accept the Album of the Year Award, Taylor thanked her fans by revealing a secret. The 'Blank Space' singer said, "I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I've been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out April 19." She announced, "It's called The Tortured Poets Department. I'm gonna go post the cover backstage." A poster was then posted on her social media handle with the caption, "All’s fair in love and poetry... New album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. Out April 19."

Celine Dion made a surprise entry towards the end of the award ceremony, presenting the Album of the Year award. The music icon had stepped away from the spotlight after her Stiff-Person Syndrome came into the limelight in 2022. Giving Celine a standing ovation, Taylor celebrated the singer's appearance on the stage by singing along to 'The Power of Love' as the song played while Celine walked onto the stage.
